Jameson Francis Abbott - Baptized As James Because It Is A Saint's Name
Jameson Francis Abbott

A copy of Jameson Abbott's certificate of baptism was obtained in August of 2000 by his daughter, Dorothy Eleanor (Abbott) Delaney. When the certificate arrived, she noticed that her mother's maiden name had inadvertently been listed on the line reserved for the name of the child's mother. Dorothy wrote St. Patrick's Cathedral asking that the records be checked and a revised certificate was sent to her along with the note shown below from Reverend John J. Ferry. Unfortunately, the family name was still misspelled as Abbot instead of Abbott. It's likely that the misspelling is the result of an error during the transcription process rather than the name being recorded in that manner in the official church register. The original certificate issued when Jameson was baptized has long since been lost, or at least its whereabouts at this time are unknown if it does exist.
