Alice Augusta "Gusie" Brennan was the daughter of Edward Brennan and Catherine (Thorpe) Brennan. Gussie Brennan, one of seven children, was born in New York, NY in April 1858.

In the 1880 U.S. Census, we find Augusta Brennan employed as an envelope maker and living with her parents and siblings in Brooklyn, NY.1

Alice Augusta Brennan married Smith Acker in the City of New York on March 12, 1884, which is where the story continues.
