About 1858 - December 3, 1912
Margaret (Montgomery) Delaney died, according to the death certificate, at 4 a.m. on December 3, 1912 at her home, which was located at 199 Baltic Street, Brooklyn, New York. The death certificate indicates that pneumonia was the cause of death. The death notice published in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle on December 5, 1912, shown in the image below, indicates that she "died yesterday," which would place the death on December 4. The discrepancy might be attributed to the early morning hour of her death, resulting in an incorrect date being listed in one item or the other. The death notice states that Margaret had suffered from rheumatism for the previous four years and had contracted pneumonia a week before her death. The notice reveals that Margaret "was educated in the Notre Dame Convent at St. Paul's." It also indicates that she was born in Ottawa, Canada. Survivors included her husband, John Francis Delaney, and two sons, Martin and Harold; four daughters, Florence, Loretta, Maude, and Mrs. B. Hodges [Bernadette (Delaney) Hodges]; and six brothers and one sister. Source: Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Thursday, December 5, 1912, page 2. |
