Walter Low Lowery

Walter Low Lowery, born on July 28, 1891, in Brooklyn, NY, was the first of two children from the marriage of Walter Gorham Lowery and Lula Leavens (Low) Lowery.

The 1900 U.S. Census shows Walter, now age 8, living with his sister and mother in his grandmother's (Annie G. Low) home, located on Jefferson Avenue in Queens, New York.1 His mother, Lula Low Lowery, is already divorced from Walter Gorham Lowery.

When the census was taken in January 1920, we find Walter, now 28 years of age, married to Mildred (L'Allemand) Lowery. The couple is living 664 Madison Street in Brooklyn, New York, along with Mildred's parents, Oscar and Sadie L'Allemand.2 Walter is employed as a clerk in a bank.

By the time the 1930 United States Census was taken, Walter and Mildred Lowery had moved to 327 Linden Boulevard in Brooklyn.3 The couple had been married for about ten years, and according to this census they had no children. Walter Lowery was employed as an accountant with a brokerage firm. He is 38 years old and his wife is age 35.

At this time, the 1930 census is the last record we have of Walter Low Lowery or his wife Mildred.
