McFadden: The Acker Connection by Robert F. Delaney July 2010 For many years I gathered information about our Acker lineage from my father, Franklyn Lowery Delaney, and a part of that story involved one of his grandaunts, Anne Laura Acker. Anne Acker married Stephen Henry McFadden, which created the connection between some of my distant relatives and the McFadden lineage presented here. As a Delaney, my own connection to the McFadden line is somewhat remote. Nevertheless I have become very interested in documenting the McFadden branch because my father's "Aunt Anne" and her daughter, Helen Edson McFadden, were frequently part of the stories related to me by my father. Also, some McFadden family photographs managed to make their way into my father's collection of family history and were eventually passed along to me. My grandmother, Edwina Acker (Lowery) Delaney, provides the connection to the Acker line. Her mother, Mary Ellen Acker, had 10 siblings, including a sister named Anne Laura Acker, who is my great-grandaunt. Thus, in a very indirect way, I have a connection to this particular line of McFaddens from the marriage of Anne L. Acker to Stephen H. McFadden in March of 1889. As stories are added about members of the McFadden clan, the appropriate links in the table below will be activated. When stories, documents, pictures and other items are made available on this site, I note them on my "What's New?" page for readers who wish to keep up with new information as it becomes available. Also, photographs - individual and group - can be accessed via the Photograph Index.
Index to McFadden Families & Allied Lines Marriage of female members of a McFadden-surnamed family results, of course, in a branching and continuation of the line through the allied surnames. Readers interested pursuing the McFadden lineage through the allied lines can do so via the links in the "Allied Line" column or the "Children" column of this table. Although I have compiled quite a bit of information on many of the individuals, most of the stories remain to be written and will be posted in the future, at which time the relevant links will be activated. Allied surname stories and information can also be reached from the Surnames Index.
