The Mayo Clinic website provides this definition. Intussusception (in-tuh-suh-SEP-shun) is a serious disorder in which part of the intestine — either the small intestine or colon — slides into another part of the intestine. This "telescoping" often blocks the intestine, preventing food or fluid from passing through. Intussusception also cuts off the blood supply to the part of the intestine that's affected.

Intussusception is the most common cause of intestinal obstruction in children. Intussusception is rare in adults. Most cases of adult intussusception are the result of an underlying medical condition. In contrast, most cases of intussusception in children have no demonstrable cause.

The Farmer family farm was located East of Martin, Tennessee. Take highway 22 east about 3 1/2 miles to the first crossroad. There should be church signs on both sides of the highway. On the North side will be an "Adams Chapel Baptist Church" sign, on the South side will be a "Bible Union Church" sign. Turn North and go about 1/2 mile and turn right. This should be McClain Chapel Road. McClain Chapel should be about 3 miles. The Martin Family Cemetery is accross the road. The Farmer family farm is down the road. A lake is on one side of the road. The lake is on John Farmer's Oscar's nephew) place. The old Oscar Farmer family farm is on the opposite side of the road. I visited the farm during the summer of 1996 and found that the old house was torn down and replaced by a new house.

Notice that the Martin Family Cemetery is behind the McClain's Chapel Cemetery. If you are trying to find the cemetery, you will see McClain's first. If you drive around the bend in Bible Union Road, you will find a gravel/dirt driveway entrance to the Martin Family Cemetery.

Oscar Lee Farmer, 23 Nov 1872 - 5 May 1925, was originally buried at the Old Martin Family Cemetery. However, when his wife, Beulah, died in 1969, his remains were moved to the East Side Cemetery in Martin, Weakley County, Tennessee.
