Notes for: David Bodine

Some records say he was the oldest son (see the Millspaugh book). Other information says that a James Bodine was the husband of Elizabeth Crist. He is not mentioned in William Bodine's will (his supposed father).

From Ronny Bodine:

David Bodine first appears in the records of the Brick Reformed Church of Montgomery, Orange County at the 1782 baptism of his daughter Polly. His is also the earliest reference to the name David amongst the Bodines of Orange County. At this time there is no clue as to how he relates to the Bodines of Orange County.

"We the subscribers do acknowledge to have received from Major Moses Phillips of Ulster County the Certificates as Numbered with their sums annexed to our names respectively Witness our hands the day and date hereafter mentioned."

David Bodine was a Private in Captain Hendrick Vankeuren's Company, Colonel Jonathan Hasbrouck's Regiment of Ulster County Militia, stationed at Fort Montgomery, from 29 July to 5 Aug 1777 and was paid 14s. 2 1/2p.

From New York Federal Census Records:
1800 Montgomery, Orange Co.: David BODINE males2(0-9), 1(26-44); females 2(0-9), 1(26-44). Based upon this family grouping, the ages for the adults fit to David and Elizabeth and the four children would be Roxanna (1791), Elizabeth (1795), Adam (1793) and John (1799).
