Notes for: Jesse E. Bodine, M.D.

Some information on this family can be found on the Internet at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/l/e/x/Wendy-M-Lex/GENE8-0007.html.

I did have a birth date of Feb. 28, 1804 for Jesse, but I don't know the source of that. Ronny Bodine says this should be cerca 1808 as he was 43 in Aug 1850 and 52 in July 1860. We will go with "abt. 1808" for now unless some source can be found for the 1804 date.

From Ronny Bodine:

Jesse Bodine, a physician, served as constable for Washington Township, Burlington County from 1822 to 1824. In 1850, recorded as Jesse E. Bonding, age 43 and employed as an agent, he and his family were living in Philadelphia. In 1860, as Jesse Bodine, age 52, M.D. he was living in Philadelphia. It appears his wife was deceased. His household included his 3 children, Anna 34, John M. 31 and Edwin 28, as well as his grandson Alonzo 4. On 10 Nov 1875, Jesse Bodine took the oath of office as a Coroner (Trenton State Gazette). Grace (Mathis) Bodine was the daughter of Benjamin Mathis.
