Obituary reads:

Herman Arthur Hinshaw, 82, prominent Winchester religious, political and civic leader died Wednesday morning in Lincoln County Hospital in Fayetteville.

Hinshaw was a former Franklin County trustee and mayor of the City of Winchester.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church in Winchester with Dr. Robert E. Brown, pastor of the church; Dr. Mike Davis of Fayetteville and the Rev. Eldon C. Wright of Nashville and former First Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Gardens of Franklin Memorial Gardens. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A Masonic service was held by Winchester Lodge No. 158, in which he had served in all stationed offices including worshipful master, and had

been awarded a 50-year pin. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Born August 20, 1900, he was a native of Franklin County and a son of the late William Nathan and Emma Jane Young Hinshaw.

He had served as a deacon in First Baptist Church in Winchester and in Fayetteville for 60 years. In Winchester, he had served as church treasurer, held positions on the building committee, was a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir.

He operated a barber shop on the north side of the square with his only surviving brother. Floyd Hinshaw, for over 10 years and left that profession to seek the office of Trustee. He was elected in 1936 and served three four year terms before leaving the office.

he moved to Fayetteville and accepted a position as an accountant at Redstone Arsenal. He returned to Winchester following his retirement in 1965 and in 1967 was elected Mayor of the City of Winchester, a position he held for two four-year terms before retiring for a second time.

After his retirement, the former trustee-mayor spent a great deal of time doing church work and working at his hobby of woodwork, turning out countless pieces of furniture for relatives and friends.

He was married on July 25, 1920 to the former Miss Jimmie Mae Grammer, who survives.

In addition to his widow and brother, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Burklin of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Larry and Bobby Hinshaw of Charlotte, N.C.; Miss Linda Hinshaw of Pennsylvania; Mrs. Beverly Burklin Milstead of Tampa, Fla. and Charles E. Burklin, Jr. of Memphis and four great-grandchildren.
