Note: The chapters Elreeta and Ray Weathers have provide us with a splendid base on which to found our study. I hope everyone has found these chapters from "Historic Georgia Families" as interesting and informative as I have. I also hope no one considers that they are the last word on any of the early ancestors.

Rather, consider them be the beginning of a discussion which will enrich our knowledge by challenging or confirming work of earlier family historians. Many times, they had the advantage of listening to older ancestors who could pass along the family history, or they could open a Family Bible to read of the begats, and births, and deaths, and marriages. They rarely had what we have - a plethora of available records to enlarge our perspective of our family.

Obituary:
The Falmouth Outlook
Friday, May 25, 1925

James Edwin Blasingame

It is with sorrow and profound sadness that we chronicle the death of our loving father and grandfather, James Edwin Blasingame, whom God called home May 13, 1925, at his home on Wagoner's Ferry Pike two and one-half mmiles east of Falmouth. He was born February 15, 1852, thus his journey on earth was 72 years, 2 months and 28 days. He suffered an illness of about two weeks and on Wednesday morning at 7:30 o'clock, while his loved ones were standing around his bed-sid, he peacefully passed from this earth never to return.

He joined the Baptist church in early life. He was a good neighbor and a kind loving father. He will be missed everywhere by friends and loved ones. His trials and troubles on earth are over and without doubt we know he is at rest.

He was joined in marriage to Maggie Mullins, and to this happy union fifteen children were born, of which only six are living. His wife also preceeded him to her heavenly home on June 12, 1908, which is about eighteen years ago.

He leaves to mourn their loss, two sons and four daughters, W. E. Blasingame, Lark Blasingame, Mrs. Vannie Beard, Mrs. George Cummins and Mrs. A. C. York, all of Falmouth, and Mrs. Charles McMillan, of Brooksville, Indiana. He is also survived by two brothers, John Blasingame, of West Carrollton, Ohio, and William Blasingame, of Toledo, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. John Smith, of Chestnut Illinois; also twenty-three grandchildren and a host of other realatives and friends. May we all meet him in the realm of the soul where we may behold him as one of God's just ones made perfect.

Mr. Blasingame was a son of the late William and Ella Payne Blasingame and was born and reared in Pendleton County, having come from pioneer stock on both his father and mother's side. In early life he united with the Short Creek Baptist Church and was a true believer in the Christ.

The funeral services were held at Bethel Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, May 15, conducted by Rev. J. H. Sharp. His remains were laid to rest in Bethel cemetery.

The pall-bearers were grandsons and his grandsons-in-law, Ernest McMillan, Edwin York, Oliver Browning, Louis Wright, Kenzie Browning and Jake Bishop.

Those from a distance who came to pay the last tribute to the departed one were: Mr. Charles McMillan and two children, Brooksville, Indiana; Mr. & Mrs. John Blasingame and two children, of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Everett Blasingame & wife, of West Carrollton.

W. E. BLASINGAME IS CANDIDATE FOR JAILER

WELL KNOWN FALMOUTH CITIZEN ANNOUNCES
FOR DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION IN
AUGUST PRIMARY

Another hat was tossed into the Jailer's race Monday, when W. E. Blasingame, of Falmouth, well known farmer, announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Jailer of Pendleton County.

Mr. Blasingame has been a life long Democrat, and he is always to be found at the polls on election day, assisting in getting out the vote for his party. He has followed the vocation of a farmer all his life and has the farmer's interest at heart. He is an enthusiastic pool man, and during the present season he is floor manager at the Burley Association warehouse in this city.

If given this nomination Mr. Blasingame guarantees to keep the prisoners in his care with security that the law prescribes. Being custodian of the court house and ground he will keep everything spick and span.

His name on the Democratic ticket this fall will no doubt add weight to that party.

Ashcraft - Blasingame

A wedding came as a surprise to the many friends of Miss Leora Blasingame and Verner Ashcraft. Members of the immediate family were not aware of their intention until the suprise had been sprung. The wedding took place Sunday, October 26, 1924, when they motored to Paris and were married by Rev. B. C. Rockett, minister of the M. E. Church, Paris, Ky.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blasingame, of this city, and all who lnow her can but speak words of praise and admonition for she. She is the type of girl who makes friends wherever she goes. And by her many charming attributes of mind and heart, she has made herself universally loved and admired.

The bridegroom is the son of O. S. Ashcraft, of Dry Ridge, and is a young man of good character and business acumen. He is now employed at J. H. Davis' garage, Paris, and the latter part of the month he will join his bride, and they will go to housekeeping on his grandfather's farm at Knoxville. Their many friends join in happy cogratulations.
