Will of Dennis Carrico

In the Name of God, Amen, I Dennis Carrico of Greene County in the
State of Illinois being  feeble of body, but of sound mind and memory
do make ordain and establish this to be my last will and testament
revoking all former wills and testaments which I heretofore have made.

First it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts to
be fully paid.

Second, I give and devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Amy Carrico
the sum of fore (sic) hundred dollars to be paid unto her by my
executor and of my estate twelve months after my decease and also all
those articles of specific property allowed unto her by the Laws of the
State.

Thirdly, I give  and bequeath and devise unto the heirs or legal
representatives of my eldest son Nathaniel Carrico deceased.  The sum
of fifty dollars to be divided equally between them and to be paid unto
them by my executor twelve moths after my decease.

Fourthly I give and bequeath and devise into the heirs or
representatives of my eldest daughter Susannah Brown deceased the sum
of fifty dollars to be paid unto them by my executor twelve months
after my decease.

Fifthly, I have heretofore given and paid over unto Elizabeth White
wife of Josiah White all that I intend she should possess of my estate.
  I give and bequeath unto the heirs of Nancy Reddish deceased the sum
of twenty five dollars to be divided equally between them and to be
paid into them by my executor twelve months after my decease.


Sixthly, I give and devise and bequeath unto my grandson my ? {someone
had written -John}  C. {B.} Carrico son of James Carrico my son a certain tract of
land lying over and being in the county of ?  in Missouri and described
as follows the remainder of six hundred or parts of land which I have
not sold which I bought of Fremont Davidson{?} being part of two
thousand ? land granted by the Spanish government commonly called
Fremore Lick tract  said balance a reminder containing one hundred and
fifty acres of land more or less and I hereby constitute I appoint my
son James Carrico my agent to look after and attend to said land and
generally to do and act ? premise  in as ? ? ? as ? and ?  ?  ? as I
myself could do.

Seventhly, I have heretofore given and paid over unto my son John C.
Carrico all that I intended he should possess of my estate.

Eighthly, I paid heretofore given and paid over unto my son Dennis H.
Carrico all that I intended he should possess of my estate.

Ninthly, I give and bequeath and devise unto my daughter Tabitha White 
wife of Jessie White the sum of fifty dollars to be paid unto her by my
executor one year after my decease.

Tenthly, I have heretofore given and paid over unto my son Thomas C.
Carrico all that I intended he should possess of my estate.

Eleventhly, I give and bequeath unto the heirs or representatives of my
daughter Margaret C Vance deceased  the sum of fifty dollars to be
divided equally between them and to be paid to them by my executor soon
as they ? became lawfully of age.


Twelvethly, I give, devise and bequeath unto Manly P Sherry and William
Waddle of the county  of Greene and the State of Illinois the sum  of
one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid unto them by my executor one
year after my decease.  In first for the following purpose to ? fifty
dollars of said money to be paid to the treasurer for the time being of
the Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church formed in New
York in the year 1819 for the purpose of said society and for which the
receipt of such treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge.
Fifty dollars of said sum of money to be paid over to the person who
when the same shall be payable shall act as treasurer of the American
Bible Society formed in New York in the year 1815 to be applied to the
charitable use and purpose of said Society and under its  direction and
for the payment of which the receipt of such treasure shall be a
sufficient discharge.
The remaining fifty dollars of said money to be paid unto the person
who when the same shall be payable shall act as treasurer of the
American Colonization Society formed at Washington  in the year 1816 to
be applied to the charitable uses and purpose of the said Society and
under its direction and for the payment of which the receipt of such
treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge.

Thirteenthly, I give devise and bequeath un to my executor John C
Carrico of the County of Jersey and the Sate of Illinois the following
described tracts or parcels of land lying  and being in the County  of
Greene and the State of Illinois that is to say all the lands I may
possess of or own at the time of my decease.  In trust for the
following purpose to with ? is my will that my said executor within a


reasonable time after my decease as in his judgment may the ? should
sell and dispose of said lands on the best terms that can be obtained
and with that he pay to my daughters and the heirs or legal
representatives of my deceased children the money arising from such
sales so fact as the same is received and so same as they become lawful
age receiving however from this devises all land specially bequeathed
in any other part of the testament to have and to hold unto him this
John C. Carrico and his heirs and assigned forever.

Fourteenthly, I give devise and bequeath unto my son James Carrico the
sum of two dollars to be paid unto him one year my decease by my
executor.

Fifteenthly, and lastly I hereby constitutional appoint John C. Carrico
of the County of Jersey and the State of Illinois to be the executor of
this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all
former wills by me made and ratifying and confirming this and no other
to be my last will and testament.  In testimony where of I have
hereunto set my name and seal this 23 May 1851
