Letha "Edna" with father Samuel P. Carrico
Sr. Mary Anarita
Letha Edna Carrico was born October 5, 1901 in Carlisle Co., KY, daughter of Samuel Pious Carrico & his 2nd wife Ludie May Ballard. At this time, I don't know when her mother died, possibly giving birth or shortly after giving birth to a 2nd child, Charles Ramond Carrico on  February 6, 1904 as on October 1, 1906 her father married again.
On February 11, 1920 she changed her name to Sr. Mary Anarita. She died in Clinton IA on Oct. 17, 1963. Her obituary can be found here.

Dear Edna,

This is the last time I may address by this familiar name, and by which I have known you ever since your childhood days. By the time these lines reach your hand you will have received a new name, one that will be dearer to you than this one you received in holy Baptism, for the new name will be the one that indicates that of your own free will you have chosen the Lord to be your Spouse, to Whom you consecrate your life, your love and your hopes. You had ample time to consider seriously the step you will have taken ere these lines come into your hands. Every opportunity will have been given you to deliberate upon your intention, that you formed many months ago. You are fully aware of the meaning of selecting the Lord for your portion, and I am sure you are giving Him your entire heart. May He so dispose your heart that you will never regret, even for a moment, the act of consecration and self-immolation, you have voluntarily made on the beautiful feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Immaculate Mother of Him to Whom you have now promised love and cheerful service for time and for eternity. He Who has inspired you with the thought of being wholly His will not fail to fill your heart with joy and happiness for this that you have done for love of Him, and three is an especial crown awaiting you in His kindom, where you will be amongst that blessed throng that "follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth". Even if in time trials and difficulites, sorrows and afflictions should become your share, or temptations and doubts assail your sould, be prepared for them and yield not to discouragement, for in this way are the chosen ones tried and tested by the loving Spouse of pure souls, that they amy be moulded more and more into His own image, Who was above all a "man of sorrows." The cross is necessary for all who desire to follow in the Master's footsteps. Be assured that He is never far away, and when the burden appears to become heavy He will always be ready to lift or lighten it. I feel confident the joy you experienced at the moment you put on the holy Habit of St. Francis will always cause you to consider the eleventh of February as the most joyful day of your life, at least until, after still more prepration and deliberation, you will be found worthy to pornounce the scared words that will irrevocably unite you to your heavenly Bridegroom. May His grace and His blessing always be upon you.

I know from your temporal joy and happiness would be increased if some of the family or myself could attend the ceremony of your spiritual espousal. As regards myself, this is impossible, much as I desire it. I doubt whether your father will be able to be present. It is a long journey to undertake at this season of the year, especially when the roads are in a condition that makes it most difficult to reach a railroad. The absence of your loved ones on this great day is a sacrifice you must offer to your Beloved at the very entrance to His service. We shall all be with you in spirit, and our prayers shall not fail you on that day.

Your spiritual Father,
Chas. A. Hainley
