In the name of God, Amen. I James Carrico of Washington County and State of Kentucky being infirm of body but of perfect and sound memory Thanks be to God for it and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and knowing that it is appointed for all men ???? to die do make and execute this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following (viz)
First I recommend my soul into the hands of Him that gave it me hoping throu the merits of my Blefsed saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ to receive the same at the General resurrection and my body to the Earth is to be burried in descent form according to the directions of my Executrix and Executor hereafter Named
2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Joana carrico all my Estate, real and personal during her natural life or widowhood on conditions hereafter mentioned except the lands where my sons Aquilla and Matthew now lives on. Also I give and bequeath to my son Francis L. Carrico four hundred dollars to be paid him as soon as Convenient after my death. likewise my wife is to pay unto my son George at the age of twenty one years four hundred dollars one horse creatrue to be worth then fifty dollars also a decent suit of clothes Likewise James my son is to have at the age of twenty one four hundred one horse worth fifty dollars and a decent suit of clothes one saddle and bridle Likewise my son Alexander is to have at the age of twenty one is to have four hundered dollars a fifty dollars horse and a decent suit of clothes Saddle and bridle Likewise I give and bequesth unto my daughter Anne Statia my Negor Girl Milley 1 horse worth fifty dollars saddle and bridle when she comes of age or marries. Also I give and Bequeath unto my son Aquilla the tract of land he now lives on to him and his foreever. Likewise I give unto my son Matthew the tract of Land he now lives on to him and his forever. Now it is to be understood that it is my will that my sons Francis George James alexander and my daughter Anne Statia when they arrive of age or marry is to have one bed and furniture cow and calf Ewe and lamb my sons Francis George James Alexander to have Plough how and axe my Daughter to have cotton and flax which whenever the come to age or Marry after the death or Marriage of my wife the ballance of my Estate not will'd ???? shall be equally divided between all my children namely Aquilla Matthew Francis George James Alexander and Anne Statia . Lastly I nominate and appoint my beloved wife Joanna and William Wright Executix and Executore to this my last will and Testament Witnefs whereof I have hereunto att my hand and seal this county twenty sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.

At a County Court held for Washington County on Monday the 11th day of December 1815 This last Will and Testament of James Carrico deceased was proven by the oaths of Henry Woods Thomas Yates and Henry woods Jr Subscribing witnefses thereto and orderd to be recorded and on the motion of William Wright the Exectuor therein named he having made oath and executed and acknowledged Bond with security as the law directs a Certificate is granted him for Haiving (?) a probate thereof  ?? due form and leave is Granted Joanna Carrico the Executrix herein named to joine (?) in the probate thereof when he may think proper.
