Know all men by their presents that the Martha Carrico Widow of the late Asa Carrico Decd. Thomas Church Guardian of Susana Carrico.  William Mettz Guardian of Martha Ann Carrico and Samuel Criswell Guardian Of James Carrico minor heirs of the late Asa Carrico Decd. 

[Only three minor children are listed here.  In the Illinois document five minor children are listed but Martha Carrico, widow, is not mentioned.]

All of the County of Calhoun and State Of Illinois, have made, Constituted and appointed, and by their presents, do make Constitute, and appoint John McDonald of the County and State aforesaid, our true and lawful attorney, for us, and in our name, to ask, xxxx xxxx for, recover & receive, all Such Sum or Sums Of money, as may be Justly Coming to each of us, as Widow and Guardians as above Stated, from any Executor or administrator On Said estate in the County of St. Louis or any other County in the State of Missouri, giving and granting unto our Said attorney, by their presents, full power and authority in and about the premises, to have, use, and take all lawful ways and means, in our name for the purposes aforesaid, and upon receipt of any Such Sum or Sums of money, acquittances or other Sufficient discharges for us and in our names to make and give, And generally to do all other acts and things in the law whatsoever needful and necessary to be done in and about the premises for us and in Our names to us execute and perform as fully and to all intents and purposes as we ourselves can xxxx do if personally present and attorneys one or more under him for the purpose aforesaid to work Constitute

and again to revoke – Hereby ratifying and confirming, all and whatsoever our said attorney shall lawfully do in about the premises by virtue hereof.  In which – whereof we have hereunto Set our hands and seal

Frye Clerk of the County Commissioners Court for Said County do hereby certify that John Red whose name appears to the foregoing certificate was on the day the Same was made an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the Said County, duly Elected, regularly Commissioned and qualified, and that as Such full faith and credit are and of right ought to be given to all his official acts.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my private Seal there being no official Seal yet provided at Gilead this 26th day of October Anno Domini 1837

I Ebenezer Smith judge of Probate In and for the County of Calhoun and State of Illinois Do Sertify [sic] that The following Persons Are the Legal Guardians of the Minor Airs [sic] of Asa Carrico Deceased Agreeabel [sic] to the law of the Afforesaid State of Illinois
William Mettz Guardian of Martha An [sic] Carrico
Samuel Criswell Guardian for James Carrico
Thomas Church Guardian for Susanna Carrico
John McDonald Guardian for Vincent Carrico and Ann Carrico

[We have a Thomas Church m. 2 Feb 1818 Elizabeth Massey b. 1799 and d. in Calhoun Co., Illinois in 1854. 
Elizabeth’s sister Mary “Polly” Massey m. on 12 Jan 1813 in St. Louis Jacob Metts.]
