The Duston branch of my family tree is very special to me.  I grew up hearing the story that Hannah Duston, who was revered for her bravery in Haverhill, Massachusetts where I was born, was my 7g-grandmother.  I found the story intriguing, but was never sure that it was true.  My brother Tom was the first to start researching our family history.  When he told me about his research, the first question I asked was whether he had proved our relation to Hannah Duston.  He had found some papers about the Dustons, but hadn't been able to establish a definite family link.  He also had mounting family responsibilities and didn't feel he would be able to do more research for some time.  Motivated by a growing need to know if the relation to Hannah Duston did indeed exist, I asked Tom if he would turn his research over to me.  The very first thing I did was pursue this supposed link to Hannah Duston -- and I found the supporting documentation!  That was a happy day for me and the beginning of a consuming hobby.  I am proud of Hannah Duston for the bravery she displayed under extreme circumstances and grateful that her story drew me into the research of my family history.
