VIRGINIA DIED A FEW WEEKS AFTER JENNY BELL WAS BORN.
She was out on a wet cold Nov. morning picking up chestnuts.
Her Sister, Cornelia "Neally" told her that she would catch her death of
cold. She did, it turned into pneumonia from which she died
In Jan .
Jenny Bell was a few weeks old
Mom (Pruda) was l3 months old
None of her four children knew anything about her people.
One cant help but wonder how different the lives of these 4 children
would have been, if they had felt as if they were apart of a
family group. Each one of them as they aged, remained close to each other
and spoke often of their mother. Mom would always say, "Sparrell
remembered her and said she was a pretty woman."
What little they did know seemed to come from Sparrels memory.
John W. Davis had previously been married to Nancy Ann Powers
(b. l5 Jan l857 (d) 22 Feb l892.
The children of John W. and Nancy Powers Davis were:
Luther, Harve, Lucy, Rebecca, Mary Payne, George, William "Bill"

and provided care for the 4 children of Virginia Bowyer Davis.
Apparently, each one of John W. Davis children were very kind to
Virginia's 4 children. They were extremly close to "Bill" , still holding onto
bits of colored glass he had brought them to decorate their playhouses.
Most of the family of Virginia Bowyer Davis is buried at the John W.
