Michael KEENEY^143,144 was born on 7 Apr 1789 in Pine Grove Twp, Schuylkill Co, PA.¹⁴⁵ In 1850 he was a farmer in Tulpehocken Twp, Berks Co, PA.¹⁴⁶ He died on 13 Mar 1872 in Tulpehocken Twp, Berks Co, PA. Michael changed his name from Kiene to Keeney. He was the oldest living son over 18 years of age when his father Peter Kiene passed away. Through deeds of land handed down to him through the Reading Court House, his name was changed from the German spelling of Kiene to the American spelling of Keeney.

Purchased 137 acres and 36 perches from Jacob Kremer in 1814 for a sum of 2700 pounds in gold and silver coin. The property was located in Bethel Twp, Berks Co.
