Tenth Generation

544. Hans Jerg RAUB was born in 1705 in Zwiebrucken, Germany. He died in Jan 1781 in Williams Twp, Northampton Co., PA. He was buried in Raubsville, Cemetery, Williams Twp., Northampton Co., PA. HISTORY: Hans Jerg (George) RAUB arrived Philadelphia on the ship
Loyal Judith on 25 Sept 1732, along with Philip Raub, Michael Raub
(probably a brother) and Peter Raub (shown as Rausch on passenger list
and probably a brother). Wives and younger children of Philip and
Peter were also aboard but were not listed as was the custom. George
probably married Maria Barbara after arrival in America. George may
have originally settled at Durham, Bucks Co. with Philip and Peter. On
2 Oct 1737 he entered 200 acres of land in northern Bucks Co. which
later became Williams Twp, Northampton Co. Patent on this land was
granted 15 June 1748. When George died he left to his wife lands
adjoining the properties of Frederick Klinehans and Michael Raub and
bounded on the east by the Delaware River (168 acres). He probably
earlier deeded land to his sons Andrew and Leonard since they are
shown as landowners in 1780 prior to his death. Maria Barbara, wife,
probably died before 4 Dec 1782 when her son Andrew bought from the
other heirs the 168 acre farm bequeathed her by George.

Some sources have listed Philip as father of Peter, George, and
Michael. Others have grouped all four as brothers. This researcher
(Robert Raup) has concluded from the evidence that Peter, George, and
Michael were brothers and that Philip was most probably a cousin or
uncle of the three. He appears to be too young to be father of Peter
and his wife Maria Sarah is too young to be mother to any of the
three. They did not serve as sponsors at baptism to children of Peter,
George, and Michael nor did Philip leave any property to them as would
have been the custom.

545. Maria Barbara ECKERT was born in 1711 in Pennsylvania. She died in 1782 in Williams Twp, Northampton Co., PA. She was buried in Raubsville, Cemetery, Williams Twp., Northampton Co., PA. NAME: WILL of husband Johann Jerg (George) refers to brother-in-law
Christian EACKER; Williams Twp Community Church records shows
Christian's name as ECKERT, ECKHARD, ACKER, with ECKERT most
frequently used. Other sources have speculated that her surname was
ACKER or KLEINHANS. Since it is possible that Christian may have been
George's brother-in-law because of marriage to a sister of George, it
cannot be verified that Christian was a brother to Maria Barbara and
thus that her surname was ECKERT, EACKER, ACKER or similar.

DEATH: Date is based upon disposal by sons of property left to her in
her husband's will.
