He was a small child of 2 or 3 years of age when his parents and siblings were killed by the Indians in June of 1754. The book, Indians of Berks County, PA by Brunner says: " The child Frederick that was scalped and put to a doctor was also shot through the arm, probably pierced by the bullet that killed the father. He recovered and in due time became the owner of the farm and died at the age of 78. The property then came into the possession of his son Jacob M. and after his death into the possession of his grandson, Frederick"
