Tenth Generation

548. Hans Philip KRESSLER192 was born on 7 Jan 1712 in Pfalz, Bayern, Germany. He emigrated on 11 Oct 1732 from Pfalz, Bayern, Germany. He died on 3 Apr 1793 in Nockamixon Twp, Bucks Co, PA. 1. PHILIP KRESSLER-1 was born in Palatinate Germany about 1712.[1] He
died in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, just before 3
April 1793, aged 81 years.[2].

Philip Kressler was a passenger on the Ship Pleasant with James Morris,
Master. The Ship Pleasant sailed from Rotterdam, Netherlands, by way of
Deal, England, to Philadelphia. The passengers qualified for entry and
took their oaths of allegiance to Pennsylvania on 11 October 1732.
Philip's name appears on three passenger lists. Note that he made his
mark with (O) instead of the customary (X).[1].[3].

List A, original list- Philip Crasler, age 20
List B- Hans Philip (O) Kresler
List C- Philip (O) Crasler

He eventually settled in the northern sector of what was then
Philadelphia County. On 15 May 1748 Philip Kressler married Anna
Margaret Miller in the Lutheran Church, New Hanover,
Pennsylvania.[-4].New Hanover is located in New Hanover Township,
Montgomery County which until 1784 was part of Philadelphia County.
Because some of Philip's children were born before 1748, Anna was
probably his second wife.

It wasn't until 29 September 1765 that he became a naturalized citizen
of Pennsylvania. His home address was given as Frederick Township,
Philadelphia County.[-5].Frederick Township lies adjacent to New Hanover
Township in what is now the northwest section of Montgomery County.
Sometime later Philip must have moved to Nockamixon Township, Bucks
County. He (Phillip Cresler) appears on the 1779 and 1781 Bucks County
tax lists as the owner of 150 acres in Nockamixon Township.[-6] . It is
probably his son Philip that appears on the 1782 list as Phillip
Cressler, single man. This same Phillip next appears on the 1786 list as
having paid tax of 6.10. In the 1790 census for Bucks County a Philip
Cresler is listed as head of a household with one other male over
sixteen, two boys under sixteen and four females. Philip, the son,
probably assumed responsibility for farming his father's land at some
point and in 1790 the older Philip was living with his son.

Philip Kressler's will was dated 1 September 1792 and probated 3 April
1793. Throughout the will his name is spelled Philip Gresslor Senior.
The estate was divided into six equal shares. His estate consisted only
of his personal effects, no land. The first part was divided among the
children of his daughter Eve married to George Shill. His oldest son
Michael received a Dutch hymn book in addition to his share. Sons
Killion, George and Philip as well as daughter Margaret also received
shares. Andrew Garnet and Conrad Kyser were named executors. The will
was drawn up in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and
filed with the Register of Wills, Bucks County.
