KUNKEL202 was born
on 21 Jul 1740 in Floersbach, Hessen, Germany. He emigrated on 12
Sep 1750 from Floersbach, Hessen, Germany. He died on 9 Nov 1818
in Albany Township, Berks County, PA. He was buried in Weisenberg
Twp. Cemetery, Lehigh Co, PA. Johann Georg emigrated to America
at age 10, arriving with his parents at Philadelphia, PA on 12 September 1750.
He was confirmed in 1756, age 16 (Thus born 1740), by Rev'd. Daniel Schumacher.
In the Revolutionary War, Georg was enrolled in the Militia from Albany
Twp, in the 1st class, 8th company, 3rd battalion of Berks Militia, under Captain
Ferdinand Ritter. Records also show that he served during 1763 in the Pennsylvania
Militia under Captain Jacob Wetterholt, in Lower Smithfield Township, Northampton
Co, PA.
By 1764, he has settled in Albany Township, Berks Co, PA where he eventually
owned a large tract of land in the Stony Run Valley. In the years 1764 through
1768 he appeared on the tax lists as a single man. Around 1772 he built the KUNKEL
family homestead in Albany Twp. Johann Jurg KUNKEL and Catharine HOLLENBACH
were married in 1773 in Berks Co, PA. In 1791, George appeared on
the Albany Twp. tax list with 250 acres, two horses, and two cows. His son, Jacob,
was also listed with five acres and one cow.
An inventory and appraisement was made of the estate of "Johann Georg
Kunkel" on the 26th day of November 1819, so he must of died before this
date.
Joh. Georg Kunkel's WILL was dated 04 March 1818, and was probated on 30 November
1819. The original is written in German Gothic Script. (Will book-K, 1819). 929. Catharine HOLLENBACH
was born on 12 Jun 1754 in Berks Co, PA. She died in 1818 in Albany
Township, Berks County, PA. She was buried in Weisenberg Twp. Cemetery,
Lehigh Co, PA. Catherine Hollenbach was the second wife of John George
Kunkel. They were married circa 1773. She was the daughter of Jurg Michael Hollenbach
and Margaretha Dietemer. Her father was born in 1720, and they married in 1747.
"In 1747, Johann Michael Hollenbach, his wife Margaretha, a daughter
of Johann Jacob Dietemer, a subject of the Count of Wertheim, from Urfar, near
Wertheim." ( Records found in the under parish of Lindfluhr, located in
Albertschausen). Children were:

in Wessnersville, Berks County, PA. He was baptized on 24 Apr 1774
in Friedens - New Allemangel White Church. Michael KUNKEL - (b. 1774),
died young. He was not in his fathers WILL in 1819 | | ii. | David KUNKEL179,205,206,207,208,209 was born
on 17 Jun 1775 in Wessnersville, Berks County, PA. He died in 1825
in Columbia Co, PA. David was baptized at Friedens Church, Wessnersville,
New Allemaengel, by Rev'd. Daniel Schumacher.
On 23 December 1820, he was one of the heirs of the estate of his father,

Margaretha KUNKEL was born on 12 Jun 1777 in Wessnersville, Berks County,
PA. Christine Margaretha KUNKEL - (b. 1777) died young, as she was
not listed in her fathers WILL in 1819 | | iv. | Johannes KUNKEL210,211,212,213,214,215,216
was born on 25 Feb 1779 in Wessnersville, Berks County, PA. In 1810
he was a Tailor. In 1850 he was a Farmer. He died on
8 Nov 1853 in East Buffalo Twp, Union Co, PA. Dry Valley Cemetery
(Guyers Burial Ground), Jackson Twp, Snyder Co, PA This family was living
in what is now called Union County, Pa. by 1815. Union County, PA was separated
from Northumberland County by act of March 22, 1813.
Anyone following the descendants of these families who is not familiar with
the area should keep in mind that Lewisburg, Union County sits on the edge of
the County, next to the river. Northumberland County is on the other side of
the river, and can be seen from Lewisburg. Snyder County also meets Union County
at Penn's Creek, which is a short distance from Lewisburg. Because these three
counties intersect and are all so close, all three counties must be researched.
According to John Kunkel's death certificate, he was the son of JOHN GEORGE
and CATHERINE KUNKEL. This family attended Friedens White Church in Albany Township,
where they can be found as (8) and (9) on the communicant list for September
18, 1808. This church was a Lutheran church which was formed by the combination
of two congregations, Lutheran and Lutheran Reformed. John's parents, John George
and Catherine Kunkel, also attended this church, and they can be found on the
communicant list of April 15, 1808.
On 23 December 1820, John was listed as one of the heirs to the estate of
his father, George Kunkel, of Albany Twp. | | v. | Andreas KUNKEL217,218,219,220 was born on 20 Apr 1781 in Albany
Township, Berks County, PA. He died on 26 Aug 1843 in Heidelberg
Twp, Lehigh Co, PA. Heidelberg cemetery, near Germanville Andreas,
lived and farmed in West Penn Twp., Schuylkill Co, PA until 1814 when he traded
farms with Peter Ebert who lived near Germansville, in Heidelberg Twp, Lehigh
Co, PA. This was between Pleasant Corner and Saegersville, PA. He then lived
in Heidelberg Twp. up to the time of his death. Their first child was baptized
in the White Church and others probably at Zion Church, near Snyders, PA.
Andreas was also a cooper. He and his family were members of the Lutheran
congregation of Heidelberg Church where he served as an elder for many years.
He was also a constable in Heidelberg Twp, for many years.
On 23 December 1820, Andreas was listed as one of the heirs to the estate
of his father, George Kunkel, of Albany Twp.
In the 1790 census, Andreas was living in Albany Twp, Berks Co, PA | | vi. | Salome (Sally) KUNKEL
was born in 1785 in Albany Township, Berks County, PA. She died in
1860 in Albany Township, Berks County, PA. She was buried in Friedens
Church Cemetery, Stony Run, Berks Co, PA. | | vii. | George Michael KUNKEL221,222,223,224,225 was born on 4 Aug 1789 in Albany Township, Berks County,
PA. He died on 25 Jun 1862 in Wessnersville, Berks County, PA.

1 George Michael was baptized by the Rev. Dr. Miller (Fractur). The sponsors
were George Michael Hollenbach and his wife. He was confirmed in 1803 by Rev.
Mr. Oberhaus.
George Michael lived on 155 acres of the original Kunkel homestead in the Stony
Run Valley.
Michael was the executor of the estate of his father, George Kunkel, of
Albany Twp. On 23 December 1820, he distributed shares of the estate to his siblings.
The fractur book gives Michael's date of death as 12 June 1862, however,
his Obituary in the Reading "Alder" shows he died 25 June 1862 at age
of 72 years, 5 months and 21 days.
In the 1790 census, he was listed in Albany Twp, Berks Co, PA. | 464 | viii. | George Adam KUNKEL. | | ix. | Jacob Daniel KUNKEL was born in 1794 in Albany Township,
Berks County, PA. A Son, born to Johan Georg KUNKEL - (b.-1740),
is found listed on the 1800 census records. Name is unknown. Some researchers
feel his name was Jacob Daniel KUNKEL |
