*Note: A couple of the websites above mention Arent Andriessen Bradt as possibly having a Mohawk mother.  The difficulty with this is that Arent was born in Norway before New Netherland was settled by Europeans.  Because some Bradts do have Native American ancestors, this is generally viewed as being a mix up, and Arent's mother, like his father, is believed to be Norwegian.

Perfect publications are pretty much impossible, whether digital or hard copy.  By way of example, we may sometimes refer to "Arent Bratt" or "Arent Bradt" on this website or in Bradt publications. In actuality Arent had died before Bratt came into use, and long before Bradt became common.  (Arent's children did use the name Bratt.)
