The Michael and Rose Mary Brady family are found living in Lavey, Upper Loughtee, Cavan, Ireland in the Irish 1821 census. The family owns no land and lives next to the Protestant Bishop of Kilmore. Michael is employed as a farmer with his wife Rose Mary is employed as a flax spinner, which was used for making linen. By 1834 the family has left Lavey and are not listed in the 1834 tithe record although many of their neighbors are still living there. When Terence Brady, their oldest son applies for a carpenter’s certificate to build the schooner George Washington he certifies that he had been living in the United States of America since approximately 1832. The Brady family moves first to New York City, New York and then to Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the late 1830’s. This site is dedicated to preserving the Brady Family’s history for future generations. Much time and resources have gone into collecting the information on this page. It is our hope that members of our family will help us find their branch of the family.
