Subject: genealogy
If you want a tough task, try tracing your mother's family. I can help a little, not much.
As you may know, your grandmother, that everyone called "Pat," was called that because her last name was Murphy, not because her name was Patricia. Her first name was Anna; I don't remember a middle name. She came from a prominent family in Philippi, WV. She had an MD brother who was on the board of directors for the clinic in Philippi. This clinic (I can't remember the name) had a reputation as a very high quality medical center. I don't know where she graduated from college--possibly the college in Philippi (Alderson-Broaddus.) Maybe you don't know that she was a high school math teacher, teaching most or all of her career at Charleston High School.
I do remember meeting Pat's mother--your great-grandmother--in Philippi, a few months after Cal and I got married. She died a few months later, I think, at the age of 98 or 99. That would have been the fall of 1957 when we visited.
Your grandmother died of lung cancer, as you may know. Smoked those unfiltered Pall Mall's for years. Raymond had a heart attack. He never was happy after she died, was homesick for WV. I asked him once why he didn't go back for a visit, and he said, "No, I can't. I'd never come back here if I did."
In case you're looking for birth records, your grandfather Raymond had no middle name until, as a young boy, a Purple Martin flew over and #$%^ on him. He thought it was funny, and decided to adopt Martin as his middle name. I don't remember what part of WV he came from--it wasn't Philippi--but I have the feeling it was somewhere in the southern part of the state. I don’t think he had any brothers or sisters. He was the chief accountant in the WV state treasurer's office, in the capitol building in Charleston. For a few years before they retired, they lived in a duplex across the street just east of the capitol, and facing the capitol. Previously they had lived in a very nice home they owned in South Charleston, with enough property (probably an acre or so) that Raymond raised a large garden.
The circled Area is approximate location of Scott Township in Boone County. In 1870, and probably 1900, the post office for the area was in Bald Knob.
Cal’s parent’s owned a nice cabin on the banks of a small river, and on a 9-hole golf course somewhere south of Charleston, in an extremely rural area. (Low maintenance course. The “greens” were oiled sand.) We spent a week there, probably the summer of 1959. I’ll bet the river was the Coal River. Raymond had cronies in the area, so I think it was likely near where he grew up.
I asked my father about my mother's birthplace being in Charleston. He replied, "Not positive, but I think so, or in South Charleston, which is a separate city across the river. They lived in suburban South Charleston when I met Cal. Their house was on the crest of a ridge, with their back yard descending down over the hill; probably at least a half-acre, with a huge vegetable and flower garden. Both Raymond and Pat commuted to their jobs in Charleston. Kanawha County, anyway. I think that the house was fairly new (est. about 10 years old in 1956), so they may have lived in Charleston when Cal was born."
It's possible that Raymond had transferred to Charleston and met Pat there, of course. The lack of a marriage record in Boone County up to 1945 doesn't mean anything--they could have been married in Kanawha County or even back at her family home in Philippi, even if both of them were working in Boone. However, it's more likely that Pat started teaching at Charleston High than at tiny little Madison.
I think Pat and Raymond married late--as I remember they were older than Pop Troy and Mother Brady. They retired to Florida about 1964. If Raymond was 65 then (which he may or may not have been), this might give you a clue to their approximate ages.
It just occurs to me that I could check their tombstone here, and maybe find birth dates. I think I remember about where the graves are located.
Curry is probably about as common as Brady as a last name, so both sides will be difficult. Maybe impossible.
I went down to the cemetery and walked around for about 20 minutes with no luck, then talked to one of the groundskeepers. He said the city Parks Dept. has records, and gave me a name and number to call. The Park Dept. guy's out to lunch, but is supposed to call me back.

What's the possibility of getting tombstone pics of their graves (Curry)?
I'm not sure there's even a marker--not all the graves are marked. I'll check. The graves in the section where they are buried are mostly flat markers set flush with the ground, and many of them are partially overgrown with grass, which makes finding a particular one difficult.
And what is the name of the Cemetery?
It's the Melbourne Municipal Cemetery on Hibiscus. (Eau Gallie also had a municipal cemetery, before the cities merged, so now there are two.) This one is east of Holmes Regional Medical Center, near the railroad, although it was there long before the hospital was built.
What is the population of Brazil? Just kidding..... :)
