Reclaimed Memories

1967

roy's little black book is full of entries without explanation and it does not say when we had our vacation. On June 19th, in heavy bold lettering are the words, "JR. HI-CAMP FLORIDA." I think this must have been the year that he was in charge of the camp. If so we did not get to start on our trip north until after the close of camp on June 23rd. We probably went first to Clarksburg, for he preached for Bland there on June 25th, from the text found in Matthew 24:3. This is in his large, “Pastor’s Record Book."

For the rest of that week, and all of the next one, we either worked at the Glen or did our usual visiting. On the 9th of July he preached for the morning worship service, "The Greatest Work," from Proverbs 11:30.

Jim and Helen Smith stayed overnight with us at the Glen on Sunday, July 16th. We left Singers Glen on the 18th, and spent the night in Columbia, S. Car. Night of the 19th at Howard's. Visited Marion in Titusville on the 20th; on to Bradenton the same day.

Mark Travis Brady was born November 1, 1967. This was a great day for all of us! Howard and Grace had been married for over five years so there was great rejoicing when that little black haired boy made his appearance.

After the union of the Evangelical United Brethren and the Methodist Churches Troy became a member of United Methodist Board of Evangelism. The board met in San Antonio, Texas, December 5th to the 8th, 1967, and Troy attended the sessions. He attended another meeting of this board in Atlanta, Georgia, from February 5th to the 8th of 1968.
