On October 17, 1831 he married Louisa McKay in Vermillion County, Illinois. She was born July 8, 1812 and died December 21, 1875. Charles married again to Elizabeth Nickerson on April 7, 1876 in Illinois but they divorced. He married Nancy J. Palchioum(? spelling?) on May 14, 1877 in Washington County, Kansas.
