Church Gresley, Holy Trinity
A township in the parish of Gresley, opened its church as a Chapel of Ease and licensed for Baptisms in 1903, closed again 1934.
Original Registers :  Baptisms 1903-1934 only.

Church Gresley, Saints George and Mary
This is an ancient parish, with registers dating back to 1574.  The parish includes:-
-   the townships of Church Gresley and Drakelow;
-   also included the Chapel of Ease at Church Gresley, Holy Trinity 1903-1934;
-   originally included most of the townships of Donisthorpe and Oakthorpe, until 1838; (see Oakthorpe & Donisthorpe Parish Pages)
-   the township of Swadlincote until 1849;
-  and the townships of Linton and Castle Gresley until 1984.

1662 Hearth Tax Assessments for Church Gresley
Reproduced here by kind permission of Philip Riden, Secretary of the Derbyshire Record Society (DRS).  The DRS published a full transcript of the "Derbyshire Hearth Tax Assessments 1662-70", edited by David G. Edwards, in 1982, now sadly out of print.  I'm very grateful to Sonia Addis-Smith, who kindly provided me with a copy of the relevant section of this transcript.

1841 Census Church Gresley parish, Burton-upon-Trent Registration District, Enumeration Districts 2 & 3
Transcribed by Gill Castle and Indexed (with minor amendments) by Brett Payne.  N.B. the films were difficult to read, and there may well be errors in this transcription - any corrections would be appreciated.
"All that part of the township of Church Gresley which lies to the west of the public highway or village street of Church Gresley [extend]ing from Swadlincote until the said highway nearly at right angles enters the Turnpike Road leading from Wooden Box to Linton or Gresley Common and also such part of the said Township as lies to the North of the said Turnpike Road leading from Wooden Box to Linton after the junction of the said Highway and Turnpike Road on the said Common."
