George Fenton was born in 1869
at New
Whittington, near Chesterfield, son of William & Sarah E.
Fenton. The 1891 and 1901 Census both show William living in
Wellington Street, New Whittington, and working as a railway
storekeeper. He married Ada Fisher in 1899. Fenton appears to have operated as a photographer in New Whittington some time in the early to mid-1900s, as evidenced by the portrait shown below. No other evidence of this studio has been found. |
