Tom William
Swift was born in 1873 at Collingham, Nottinghamshire, only son of a
painter
and house decorator Thomas Swift and his wife Elizabeth. He
married Ada Marshall at Nottingham in 1894, and they had a son, Arthur
Blatchford Swift the following year. Shortly after, they moved to
Chesterfield, Derbyshire, where Tom was working as a coal agent in
April 1901. A post card produced by T.W. Swift and postally used
in 1917 probably dates from around that time. |
