This photographer is known only from a single carte-de-visite, possibly taken c. 1890, emanating from the Crown Studio at Matlock Bridge. Kelly's 1891 trade directory shows several businesses located in the "Crown bldgs", the Crown Hardware Co. in the "Crown sq.", and the Crown hotel, any of which could have provided locations for the studio. Presumably Mr. Wrigley did not last for long, as neither he nor the studio are shown in any of the trade directories for this period, and he does not appear listed as a photographer in any of the 1881, 1891 or 1901 census enumerations. |
