William
Sharman is
known only from the photo below, which shows that he had a studio at
New
Bolsover, near Chesterfield. The photo is tentatively dated to
the
first decade of the 20th Century.
There was a William Sharman, life assurance agent, living in Bolsover in 1901. A family member states that he was married at Chesterfield in 1893, describing himself as a potter, and his father as an insurance agent. When a son was born in 1905 at Bolsover, he was working as an insurance agent, and when this son married in 1930, he described his father as a "merchant." Another William Sharman was listed in Kelly's 1912 trade directory as draper & boot dealer, living in the hamlet of Carr Vale, adjacent to New Bolsover. |
