********************************************************* This Deed made this 14th day of December, 1906, by and between Zachariah R. Brock, Widower, William W. Brock and Lavina Brock, his wife, Joseph Hopkins and Elizabeth Hopkins, his wife, John H. Brock and Sylvesta Brock, his wife, Caroline Saylor and Simeon Saylor, her husband, and Sarah Blanton, widow of James Blanton, Caleb Brock and Deby Brock, his wife, George Hopkins and wife Lavina Hopkins, Car (Carr) Brock, and his wife Mary Jane Brock, heirs at law of James Brock, deceased, parties of the first part, and Franklin B. Saylor of Harlan County, Kentucky, party of the second part. Witnesseth: that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar ($1.00) cash in hand paid and other good and valuable considerations, the receipt of all of which is hereby acknowledged hereby grants, bargain, sell, release and quit claim and convey unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns all their right, title and interest in and to so much of the following described tract or parcel of land as lies East of the top of the ridge between Wolfs Penn Branch and Bill Ely Branch, on the water of Forresters Creek, in Harlan County, Kentucky and bounded and described as follows: Beginning on a Cherry tree, sugar tree and buckeye on the west side of the mountain thence North fifty two degrees west one hundred and sixty poles to a chestnut and water oak; thence North eight three degrees, West eighty poles to a chestnut and white oak; thence North fifty eight degrees West eight poles to a hickory and two beeches, thence South fifty five West fifty poles to a stake, thence South fifty eight degrees East three hundred and ten poles to a stake; thence North forty five degrees East eighty poles to the beginning; it being the same tract or parcel of land granted by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to the said James Brock by Patient No. 4633, dated July 18th 1843 (see transcribed below). In testimony where of witness the signatures of the said parties of the first part on this day and year above written. All the following signed (made their mark): Joseph HOPKINS; Elizabeth (Brock) HOPKINS; W. W. Brock; Lavina (Osborne) Brock; Caleb Brock; Deby Brock (I don't know if this Deby's maiden name was Brock or what); George HOPKINS; Lavina (Brock) HOPKINS; Simeon SAYLOR; Caroline (Brock) SAYLOR; Car Brock; Mary J(ane) (Brock) Brock; Sarah (Brock) BLANTON (her husband, James BLANTON was dead). The deed was attested to by Sherman BLANTON & witnessed by a Cora ROOP & a J. D. CARTER. Although listed as heirs on the deed, Zachariah R. and John H. Brock did not sign the deed.
