ALBERT BROCK, Pineville, 93, passed away
Tuesday, May 14, 2002,
at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born June 22, 1908, in Pineville,
a son of the late Jarvis and Mattie Lilly Brock.He had been a coal miner. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters,
Hestel, Melvin and Lessie Brock, Amanda Wilson, Laura Daniels, Maudie Rogers and
Rosie Hall. Survivors include his sons, Lloyd Brock and Doug Brock; brothers,
Jay Brock and Charles Brock; sisters, Edna Hoskins and Ruth Brock; and a host
of nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Arnett
& Steele Funeral Home. Burial will be in Brock Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers
will be family and friends. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday at Arnett & Steele
Funeral Home, Pineville.

ANNA FAYE BROCK,
56, of Forge Ridge, TN, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Central
Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Red Bird on June 21, 1947,
daughter of the late Monroe and Oda Saylor Brock. She had been a cook at Right
Fork School. She attended Forge Ridge Baptist Church and was a member at Saylor
Pentecostal Church at Crockett. She was preceded in death by her parents, one
son, Noel Benjamin Lawson, grandchildren, Travis Brandon and Holly Diana Helton,
sister, Geneva Brock, and brothers, Harlan, Noble and Arlie Brock. Survivors
include her husband Marvin Brock; daughters, Dianne and Troy Helton, Stoney
Fork, Valerie and Duane Gregory, Pineville and Marissa and Steven Brock, Forge
Ridge, TN; step-children, Connie and Bobbie Brock, Walton, KY, Diann and Nick
Yelton, Taylor Mill, KY and Kenneth and Joan Brock, Harrogate, TN;

ARTHUR BROCK,
77, of Calvin, KY., died Thursday, April 21, 1988 at the Pineville Community
Hospital following a long illness. He was born March 2, 1911, in Bell County to
the late Mr. and Mrs. Grant Brock. He was a retired custodian from the
Vocational School and had been a lifelong resident of Bell Co. He was a
believer in the Pentecostal faith. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Proffitt
Brock,Corbin; one daughter, Debbie Gail Gabbard, Corbin; two step-daughters,
Betty Hayes, Corbin, KY., and Mary Ellen Saylor, OH; two sons, Jimmy Ray Brock
and Arthur Henry Brock, both of Corbin; one grandson, Henry Lee Proffitt,

BILLY GENE BROCK, Billy Gene Brock
died December 2, 2007 at his home in Tuscaloosa, Ala., after a long
illness. He was 45 years old. Born in Tiffin, Ohio, he was a son of
Froney Gaye McPeeks Brock of Jenkins, KY and the late James Daniel
Brock. He was the father of the late Geria Shavon Brock. He was a former
resident of Letcher County, KY. Brock was a mine coordinator at Chevron
P&M Mining in Berry, Ala. He was a member of the Daystar Family Church
in Tuscaloosa. Surviving are his wife, Nicole Seals Brock; two
daughters, Katherine Gay Brock, Whitesburg, KY, and Ciarra Dawn Brock,
Millstone; two stepsons, Jonathan Cramblett and Jacob Cramblett; a

27, 2001 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1919 son of the late
George and Nannie (Weaver) Brock. He was a farmer, retired school bus
driver and retired wood worker, W W II Army veteran and a member of
Delmar Church of the Nazarene. He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at
age 23 and was a man of strong faith and daily walked with God.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Daulton) Brock, whom he married on
June 7, 1941 in Delmar, Kentucky; three daughters, Carolyn Sue (and
Jack) Shelton of Delmar, Connie Brock and Teresa (and Denton "Bo") Davis
all of Somerset; one sister Juanita (and Dale) Sharp of Delmar; five
grandchildren Mitzi Dawn (and Joey) Quinton, Marla (and Mitch) Loveless,
Christi (and Tommy) Holder, Joshua Davis, Kylie (and Alfonso) Martinez;
The eldest: Andrew Beasley Quinton and 11 great-grandchildren, little
angels who papaw loved and adored; and a host of friends. He was

Street passed away Thursday January 17, 2002 at his residence. He was born
February 23, 1950 in Harlan, KY., a son of Daniel Boone Brock and the late
Fannie Brock. He was a retired Truck Driver, a U S Army veteran, having attained
the rank of SP4, a member of American Legion Post #38 and of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye (Begley) Brock, whom he married February 23,
1980: his father, Daniel Boone Brock, Waynesburg, KY: one son, Donnie Brock,
JR., Ferguson: three daughters, Renee Jones, Somerset, Dewana Brock, Somerset
and Jennifer Blevins, McCreary Co. KY: one brother, Danny Brock, Lexington, KY.:
three sisters, Ozetta Tarter, Annette Brock and Ruby Venoy all of Eubank, KY.: 5
grandchildren, Corey, Jalen, Kelsey, Kayli Jones and Caitlin Powell. He is
preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Rose (Napier) Brock.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday January 22, 2002 at the Chapel of
Morris and Hislope Funeral home with Brother Billy Miller, Brother Buddy Brock
and Brother Bill Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National
Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P. M. Monday January 21, 2002 at the

In Loving Memory Of our Father
Edward Thomas Brock, Sr. was born February 23, 1923 in Garrard
County, Kentucky to John Jeff Brock and Mildred Schrader. He died May 17, 2005
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is survived by his three children Sheila Brock, Cheryl
Brock and Edward Thomas Brock, Jr. and ten beautiful grandchildren. He had 8
brothers and sisters. Robert William Brock, George Brock, Lucy (Ann) Medley,
Elsie Schilling, Charles Brock, Walter Mitchell Brock, Henry Richard Brock and
Helen Brock.
He was a very private man, but there wasn�t a day that went by
that he wasn�t asking how everyone else was doing. He loved his family and loved
to talk about them. He loved to talk about the good times in life instead of
dwelling on the difficult times. He will be missed by all who knew him. He had
requested that his body be donated to science to help others. A memorial will
be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery in
Cincinnati.

Mrs. Ellen Brock, 84, wife of Mr. William Brock, died
Wednesday, Nov. 10, at her home on Rt. 2.
A native of Leslie County, she was the daughter of the
late Isaac and Jemimia Brock. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fannie
Simpson and Mrs. Stella Goins, both of Route 2, London, and five sons; Brock of
Keavy; Chester Brock of Corbin; and Frank Brock of Pontiac, Michigan. One sister
Mrs. Barbara Smith of Leslie County also survives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brock were held Friday at the
Colony Baptist Church with the Rev. Caleb McFaddin officiating. Burial followed
int the Locust Grove cemetery at Keavy with House Funeral Home in charge.

GERTRUDE BROCK,
a homemaker of Pineville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 15, 2000 at New
Tazwell, Tennessee. She was 87.
Funeral service for Mrs. Brock will be Wednesday, May 17, 2000 at Durham
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Geroge Neal, and Rev Van Johnson officiating.
Music was by Henrietta Johnson and daughter, Tammy.
Burial was in Jackson Cemetery, Laurel Hill, Kentucky. Family and friends

In addition to her parents, Jim Greene and Gelanie Johnson Greene, she was

Gertrude Brock was born in Bell County, Kentucky November 23, 1912. She was
a lifelong resident of this area and she believed in the Holiness faith.

the Pentecostal Holiness Faith and had worked in Home Improvements. He was

GOLDEN BROCK,
78 passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Middlesboro Appalachian
Regional Hospital due to injuries sustained from a car accident.A great warrior
has gone down, but not in defeat. Born June 10, 1925 in Fields, KY, he was the
son of the late Bentley and Chloe Sizemore Brock. He served as a deacon for 46
years at Saylor Pentecostal Church of God at Crockett. A veteran of the U.S.
Army, he served during World War II, and he had been a coal miner for 35 years
and was a member of the UMWA and SLY Unions. In addition to his parents,
brothers, Delbert, J.B., Lester and Rev. Elmer Brock; and sisters, Rosa Miller
and Elva Lawson preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 60 years,
Chesney Lawson Brock or Arjay; children, Eugene and Mary Kay Brock of Fort
Wayne, IN, Evelyn and Estille B. Gregory of Arjay, Barbara and Duane Buell of
Fort Wayne, IN, Joyce and Jerry Cox or Arjay and Richard and Lois Brock of Arjay;
eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Virgil

daughter of the late Christian Sievers and Malinda Barker, was born on July 18,

the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital having attained the age of 95 Years. She

HIRAM BROCK JR., EX-HARLAN
MAYOR HIRAM BROCK JR. DIES, age 82, former Harlan mayor (1963 to 1969) and state
representative, died yesterday of pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Born
March 7, 1917, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of
Kentucky Law School. He was elected to the state legislature in the early
1940s, before joining the service and serving aboard a transport ship in World
War II. Survived by wife, Eula, and two sons and grandson. A
memorial service will be held at the Harlan Presbyterian Church at 10:45 a.m.
Sunday.

Grand-children Harlan, Jan. 29.-James Brock, 79, farmer, and father of Senator
Hiram Brock of Harlan, died at the home of Senator Brock here last night. His
death was said to be due to old age. He was the father of thirteen children,
nine living, of whom five are in Harlan. These are Senator H. M. Brock,
representative of this district, W. A. Brock, lawyer, Amon Brock, Mrs. Sam
Caplin and Mrs. Owen Sizemore. James Brock was born in Clay county and has spent
most of his life in Leslie county. He came to Harlan ten years ago and had been
living in the home of senator Brock for some time. He is survived by sixty-seven
grandchildren and forty-nine great-grandchildren. burial will be Tuesday at 2
p.m. in
the Brock family cemetery at Loyal.

JAMES ROBERT BROCK,
13 of Middlesboro passed away Monday, December 24, at the Middlesboro ARH. He
was born on December 4, 1988 in Middlesboro and attended Millers Chapel Baptist
Church and Middlesboro Middle School. He was preceded in death by his mother
Marie Brock. He is survived by his father Darrell Brock, one brother Raymond
Brock; grandfather Rev. Raymond Brock all of Middlesboro; Mr. and Mrs. George
Collins also of Middlesboro; and special friend Patricia Harris. Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at Shumate Funeral Home with Rev.
Hobart Dale Sowders officiating. Pallbearers will be Rufus Irvin, Tony Hopper,
David Earles, Frank Brock, Randall Collins, and Shannon Minor. The family will
receive friends from 12-2 p.m. today at Shumate Funeral Home. Burial will be in
the Green Hill Cemetery. Shumate Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JAY T. BROCK, age 68, of Cincinnati, OH,
passed away on Monday, February 19, 2007 in Cincinnati, OH. Born December
28, 1938 in Crab Orchard, KY, he was the son of the late Calvin and Martha
Howard Brock. He had worked as a welder for a highway equipment company. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Johnny
Saylor, William Joe Saylor, George Saylor and Howard Saylor. He is survived
by (6) children; Theresa Armacost, Linda Hughes, Kim Lewis, Mary Brock,
Diane Bleh, and Michael Brock, sisters; Vivian Saylor, Opal Gwyddioniaid,
Linda Lowery and Betty Saylor, brothers; Hurskin Saylor, E.C. Brock and
Archie Brock, (19) grandchildren, (26) great grandchildren, all who mourn
his passing. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at
the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowery officiating. Burial
followed in the Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Bleh, Mike Brock,
Steve Hughes, Wayne Armacost, Jason Hasselbrock and Dale Anderson.
Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home of Corbin, KY was in charge of all

JESSE BROCK, Lancaster; Jesse Brock, 89, of
Richmond Street, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev.
Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Paint Lick Cemetery. He died Wednesday at
Christian Care Center.
Born June 9, 1914, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Jess and Mary
Holmes Brock. He was retired after serving 22 years in the Army and was a member
of South Christian Church in Louisville. He was the widower of Captola Brock.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Louise Speake of Lancaster and Betty
Prewitt of Marietta, Ga.; a brother, C.H. Brock of Lancaster; a sister, Katie
Gilbert of Irvine; six stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Prewitt, Rex Speake, J.K. Simpson, Rick Rowlans, Matt
Simpson, Josh Simpson, Zach Simpson and Joe White.
Honorary pallbearers are Ray Hammonds, Shelton Moss, Buddy Maupin, Caywood
Metcalf, Phil Mosier, Joe Hawley and Lonnie Napier.

JOHN B. BROCK: Mr. John Berry Brock born
September 19, 1912 departed this life on February 2, 1990 at the age of 77
years, 4 months and 13 days. He was born at Marrowbone, Kentucky, the son of the
late Belle Johnson Brock and Will Brock. He was a member of the Dry Fork
Holiness Church, Helton, a life-long resident of Leslie County, and by
occupation he was a retired logger and coal miner. Mr. Brock was preceded in
death by his first wife (mother of children) Lilly Asher Brock, November 27,
1976, also one daughter Sarah Ellen Brock, June 4, 1986, and one brother Charlie
Brock, and two sisters, Sarah Brock and Gracie Brock.
Mr. John Berry Brock leaves surviving; four sons: Will C. Brock of Helton,
Charlie Brock of Beverly, Farmer Brock of Helton and Kenneth J. Brock of
Bledsoe; seven daughters: Ethel Caldwell of Roark, Hazel Robinson and Belle
Brock, both of Helton, Roberta Jackson of London, Edna Brock, Nannie Brock and
Frances Ellen Lewis, all of Helton; 8 brothers: Mike Brock, Mitchell Brock,
Richard Brock, Allen Brock, Grant Brock, Wilk Brock, A.M. Brock and Isar Brock;
23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services for Mr. John Berry
Brock were conducted Monday, February 5, 1990 at 1 PM at the Dry Fork Church,
Helton, Kentucky, with Rev. Samps Brock and Rev. Dwight Brock officiating.
Interment followed at the Brock Cemetery, Helton, Kentucky, under the direction
of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Kentucky.

JOHN JEFF BROCK passed away August 20, 1970
in the Pineville Community Hospital
after a brief illness. He was born in Bell Co on June 10, 1891,
the son of the late Henry and Mary Bullins Brock. He was a life long resident of
Bell Co and a member of the Baptist Church. He was a
veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Varilla Lee Brock of Pineville; four
daughters, Mrs. Ann Brynn, Covington, KY., Mrs. Elsie Shellins, Cincinnati, OH.,
Mrs. Rugy Saylor, Sharonville, OH., Mrs. Susie Metzzer, New Philadelphia, OH;
four sons, George Brock, Cincinnati, OH., Edward Brock, Cincinnati, OH., Joe Leo
Baker, Sharonville, OH., Tommie Baker, Sandyville, OH; one sister Mrs. Lucy
Napier; Hawaii Island; 20 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral
services were held Sunday, August 23, 1970 at 12 noon at the Arnett Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Thea O. Carter and Rev. Everett Hisle officiating. Friends
of the family served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Nancy, died Saturday, August 7 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born
September 29, 1923 in Trimble, Ky., to the late George and Cora Muse Brock. He
was retired from Cumberland Wood and Chair. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Vernia Burton Brock, whom he married July 9,
1949; two sons, Darrell Kenneth (and Sharilene) Brock, Nancy, and Terry Ben (and
Kim) Brock, Somerset; two daughters, Freda Mae (and Daryl) Jasper, Science Hill,
and Reda Faye (and Creston) Wilson, Somerset; a brother, Hildred Brock, Nancy;

Ind.; a special granddaughter, Sheila Ann (and Neil) Luttrell, Windsor, Ky.; two
great-grandchildren, Skyler Mason Luttrell and Savana Morgan Luttrell; and two
sister-in-laws, Elsie Brock, Richmond, Ky., and Iridia Brock, Nancy. He is
preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Homer Brock, Herbert Brock,
Lloyd Brock, Claude Brock and Arthur Brock; and three sisters, Jewell Brock

69, of St. Creek, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Pineville
Community Hospital. He was born in Cold Iron on January 4, 1934 son of the late
Joseph and Lucy Saylor Brock. He had been a grader for a Lumber Company. In
addition to his prents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Zola and Judy Brock
and brothers, Dewey and Arvel Brock and grandparents, Jonathon and Judy Wilson
Brock. He was a beloved brother of his sisters and their husbands, Phronia and
Paul Parker of Pineville, Oma and Fred Helton of Kettle Island, Vina Smith of
Straight Creek, Mary and Garner Middleton of Barbourville and Alice and McArthur
Mills of Straight Creek and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were Saturday
at the Old Straight Creek Trinity Tabernacle with Rev. Danny Daniels, Rev. Bobby
Grubbs and Rev. Herman Denny. Music was by the church. Burial was in Salt Trace
Cemetery at Middlefork. Family and friends

76, Corbin, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001. He was born September 20, 1925
in Laurel County to the late Robert and Callie Tuttle Brock. He had lived and
worked in Cincinnati and Gainesville, Florida
after leaving Kentucky years ago. Two brothers, Malcolm and Howard Brock,
preceded him in death.
He is survived by six children, a sister, Ruth Elliott of Corbin; a nephew, Gary
W. Elliott of London; and two
nieces, June Johnson and Marietta Pennington of Corbin. Funeral services were
held Sunday, August 5 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the
Stansberry Cemetery.
LILLIAN ELLIOTT BROCK,
a homemaker of Stoney Fork, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 15, 2000 at St.
Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was 80.

Home Chapel with Rev. Rondald Howard and Rev. Herbie Hoskins, and Rev. Kermitt

Dan Elliott.

preceded in death by her husband Manford Brock; one sister, Cledith Hoskins; and
two brothers, Edgar Elliott and John Elliott.
Lillian Elliott Brock was born July 14, 1919 in Stoney Fork, Kentucky. She
was a homemaker and was a member of Stoney Fork Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Jo Ann Presley, Lexington, KY;
son Ray Elliott, Lexington, KY two brothers, Paul Elliott and wife, Bonnie and

passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at her home. She was born in Pineville
on Oct. 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Henry and
Brummett Bailey. She was a believer in the Holiness faith and had been a
homemaker.
Survivors include daughters and their husbands, Betty and
Steve Jr., Partin of Tennessee, Denise Marie (Brock) and Hershel Edward Knuckles
and Melissa Renee Brock and granddaughter, Chastity Denise Knuckles all of
Pineville; brothers and sister, Roy Bailey of South Ben, In., Geraldine Napier
and Lola Bea Harris and special niece, Tammy Lewis, all of Pineville, special
friend David Wayne Collett of Middlesboro and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blackmont Baptist
Church with Rev. David Hampton presiding. Burial will be in the Little
Creek Cemetery at Red Bird. Pallbearers will be David Wayne Collett, Eddie
Knuckles, Ronald Overbay, Jerry Johns, Dewayne Slusher, Adrian Rutherford and
Tammy Lewis.

had been a coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his wife, Chloe Brock; and a host of brothers and sisters. Survivors include his
five sons, Fred Brock, Annville, Ky., Rev. Walter Brock, Harrogate, Tenn., Chuck
Brock, Harlan, Ky., Matt Brock, Bledsoe, and Chester Brock, Danville, Ky.; one
daughter, Carolyn Kline, Harlan;
one brother, A.M. Brock, Leslie County; 21 grandchildren and 14

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday at New Ferndale Pentecostal
Church with the Rev. John Pew and Mitch Elliott presiding. Music will be
provided by the church singers. Burial willbe in Rye Cove Cemetery, Leslie

Shirley Brock, 70, died December 26, 2010 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional
Healthcare Center. She is survived by three daughters, Diane (Steve) Honchel of
McRoberts, and Tracy Jackson and Patsy (Dwayne) Sexton, all of Isom; a son, Sam
Brock of Seco; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Interment was at
Green Acres Cemetery under the direction of Letcher Funeral Home.

Brock, 76 years old, retired farmer, died suddenly at 8:45 o'clock last Thursday
morning at his home in London following a heart attack. A member of the current
grand jury, Mr. Brock ate breakfast with his family as usual, after which he
went into the yard and cut a small amount of grass with a reap hook. Tiring, he
returned to the house and told Mrs. Brock he was going to rest on the front
porch. He sat in the swing there and a few minutes later expired. Funeral
services were held at the Providence Baptist church at 2 o'clock Sunday
afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Rush and assisted by the Revs. Caleb
McFadden and Bill George. Music at the last rites was furnished by the George
Quartet. Burial was in the church cemetery by the House Funeral Home. Mr. Brock
was born Feb. 21, 1872 the son of James M. and Mary Rowland Brock, near Lida,
KY, where he was a farmer and merchant until he retired three years ago and he
moved to London. He was twice married, first to Ellen Jones and to this union
seven children were born, six of whom survive. After her death he was wed to
Mary Jane Gilbert Sasser and to them one child was born. Surviving are this
wife, three daughters, Mrs. Barden Gilbert, Lida; Mrs. Hazel Sample, Chicago;
and Mrs. Nancy Ward, of Fariston; and four sons, Orville and Casey Brock,
Hammond, IN; Daniel Brock, Chicago and Silas Woodson Brock, Jr., Indiana Harbor,
IN. He also leaves two brothers, Foster Brock, London Route 4 and Jack Brock,
also of Route 4. Six brothers preceded him in death including the late Dr. G.S.
Brock on London. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Hailey Collett Brock;

73, Helton, died Monday Morning in Manchester Memorial Hospital after a short
illness. The native of Harlan was a member of Green Hill Pentecostal Church of
God. He was a retired factory worker of Illinois.Services will be conducted
Thursday at 1 pm in the Green Hill Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. Samps
Brock officiating.Burial will follow in Honey Branch Cemetery.
In addition to his wife Hettie Brock of Helton, he is survived by five children,
Mrs. Reed Belcher, Bledsoe; Mrs. B.H. Dixon, Chicago, Ill; Donald Brock,
Lafollette Tenn.; Charlie Brock Tazewell, Tenn.; and Marvin Broc, Helton.
He is also survived by eight step-children, Claymon Gross, John Gross, Howard
Gross, Willis Gross, Kalip Gross, Phebee Gross, Ethel Helton, all of Helton, and
Mary Caldwell of Bledsoe.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ples Brock, Crab Orchard, Whitesburg; three
sisters, Mahaley Caldwell, Walls; Matilda Brock, Kettle Island; and Elizabeth
Schooler, Crab Orchard. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends all day today and Thursday
at the residence of Reed

as a Truck Driver for Straight Creek Mining, and had been a member of the Bell
County Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sara Ellen Crank Brock; and two
grandchildren, Noel and Sierra Bailey. In addition to his father, survivors
include his wife, Shirley Saylor Brock; daughters. Heather and John Hurley and
Kristie and Michael Bailey all of Stoney Fork; grandchildren, Whitney, Tyler and
Bradley Bailey; uncles, Marvin, Elmer, Estell, Cecil, Carl, and Glen Brock;

age 78, of Beverly, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at the Pineville
Community Hospital. He was born in Kettle Island, on June 14, 1923, a son of
the late Floyd and Lucy Taylor Brock. He was a believer in the Methodist Faith
and had been a school bus driver for the Bell County School System for 53 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Shannon and
Billy Joe, daughters, Marie Caldwell and Marilyn Joyce Brock, two grandchildren,
brothers and sisters, Phronia Lawson, Fannie, Ledford, David and Kitt Brock.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mabel Brock; daughter, Ethel
(Connie) Brock, son, Simon Brock, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren;

WILLIE BROCK: Mr. Willie Brock born January
4, 1900 departed this life on October 26, 1988 at the age of 88 years, 9 months,
and 22 days. Mr. Brock was born at Saylor, Leslie County, Kentucky, the son of
the late Alabam Gross Brock and Samps Brock. He was a member of the Middlefork
United Methodist Church, Helton, had been a resident of Bledsoe for the past
twenty-eight years, and by occupation he was a retired logger, having retired
from Ritter Lumber Company.
Mr. Willie Brock leaves surviving: his wife: Rose Caldwell Brock of Bledsoe;
four sons; James Brock of Phoenix, AZ. Wallace Brock of Helton, Raymond Brock of
Pineville and Richard Brock of Hamilton, OH; two daughters: Coreen Hayward of
Toledo, Iowa and Catherine Hutchinson of Columbia; one brother: Lige Brock of
Asher; two sisters: Catherine Brock of Helton and Fannie Bailey of Harlan; 16
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and
friends.

NINA E. BROCK DEATHERAGE CRAB ORCHARD, 80, of Stanford, died Friday
at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Lincoln
County, she was the daughter of the late Elga and Myrtie Martin Brock. She
was a retired seamstress for Cowdens Manufacturing and a member of Stanford
First Church of God. Survivors include her husband, Clarence "Bug"
Deatherage of Stanford; two sons, Keith Deatherage, and Dohn M. Deatherage,
both of Stanford; a brother, E.G. Brock of Stanford; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry J. Deatherage. Services will be 11
a.m. Monday at Stanford First Church of God by David Harris and Mike Cox.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

MARTIN (ED) WHEELER, 87, Rt. 2, Ewing, Va., passed away at his home
sunday July 27, 1980. He
was born June 11, 1893 in Lee County, Va., and was the son of the late George
Wheeler and Lavina Vandaventer.
Mr. Wheeler was a Lee County resident all of his life, a Lee County Merchant for
50 years, and a member
of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vaude Wheeler, Gibson Station,
Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Dorothy) Grabeel
of Ewing and Mrs. Eddie (Lois) Carrier of Parisburg, Va.; one son, Wayne Wheeler
of Gibson Station; one
daughter-in-law, Hattie Wheeler of Gibson Station; one son-in-law, Gene Grabeel
of Ewing,; six grandchildren,
Greg and Jerry Wheeler of Gibson Station, Sharon Carrier of Roanoke, Va., Mrs.
Franklin (Becky) Odell of Parisburg,
Mrs. Allen (Sandra) Hopper of Cumberland Gap, and Mrs. Kevin (Charlotte)
Chadwell of Knoxville, Tenn.; and nine
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, four
brothers, and one son-in-law.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 29, 1980 at
2 p.m. at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church at
Gibson Station with Rev. R. C. Tennyson officiating. Music will be by Earl
Sumpter and Bobbie Littrell.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler, Kevin
Chadwell, Allen hopper, Franklin O'Dell, and
Jimmy Wheeler.
The body will be taken to the church Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. to
lie in state one hur before funeral time.
Creech Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

J.C. WHEELER, 44, prominent resident of
gibson Station, Va., died this morning at five o'clock in a local
hospital, as result of an attach of typhoid fever. The funeral was held Friday
at the home, with Rev. U. T.
Lingar in charge and burial took place at the Gibson cemetery.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife and one son, Fred and one
daughter, Margaret, of Gibson Station, his father,
Jim Wheeler, of Gibson Station, four sisters, Mrs. Dora Arnold, of Middlesboro,
Mrs. Ida Crigger, of Harrogate,
Mrs. May Robinson and Mrs. Dora Wright, of Gibson Station, and two brother, J.
M. and E. M. Wheeler, of
Gibson Station.
Notes: The obit has some wrong information. It has
the wrong name for his father who had already passed and Mary Roberts is his
sister not May Robertson. Kate Ward was his wife.

MAYNARD WHEELER,
72, of Gibson Station, died at Miners Hospital, Middlesboro, Thursday, January
17,
following a brief illness
He survived by his wife, Mrs. Ollie Wheeler, Gibson Station;
one brother, Ed Wheeler, Gibson Station;
two sisters Mrs. Dora Wright, Gibson Station and Mrs. Ida Crigger, Harrogate,
Tenn.; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the
Walnut Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the
Gibson Cemetery near the church.
