Biography of Louisa Graninger
by Susan Brooke
May 2015
Louisa Graninger was born in Vorderweidenthal, Bayern, Germany on June 2, 1836. The family was in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania by 1844 when her two older siblings were admitted to the Smithfield United Church of Christ. In Feb 1848 Louisa too was confirmed in the church. Her date of birth at that time was given as June 13, 1836 and that is the date recorded on her tombstone.
She married Jacob Fiock at the age of 19 under the name of Louisa Craninger. Jacob Fiock, her husband, had been born Jacob Veiock also back in Vorderweidenthal. They had eight children, the first, Charles, born in Harrison County, Indiana. By 1859 they had moved to Olney, Richland, IL where her cousin, Margaret Helfer Zimmerle, was living. Louisa and her husband were farmers.
