On September 9, 1843 Gabriel Hannah gave testimony for his father to receive a pension for serving in the American Revolution. He stated that his age was fifty-two and that he had heard his father William Hannon and Charles Riggs speak of serving in the war of the revolution and he was certain it had been more than forty years ago when there was no calculation of his receiving a pension. "I have often heard him say he served five years between the rivers of St Marys and Potomac as a militiaman'"
On August 22, 1851 a justice of the peace gave testimony that Gabriel Hannah had been the administrator of the estate of his father, William Hanna, who died March 31, 1846 leaving but two children living, viz Gabriel Hannah who has since died leaving but ten children living, viz Lucy P, Mary, William, Perry, Elisabeth, Gabriel, America, Isabelle, John T and Catharine who reside in Greenup County, excepting America who has died since her grandfather William Hanna, who left but one child living, viz Jefferson, who resides in Greenup County, and Mary Anglin who resides in the county of Carter.
