FATHER

John Hopewell

MOTHER

Hannah King

This Samuel Hopewell was born in June of 1764 according to the order book record as seen below.  Ten years after his birth, a Samuel Hopewell, servant of Isaac Votaw, brought suit against Isaac Votaw.*  Both of these events were recorded in the "Apprentices, Poor Children, and Bastards, Loudoun County, Virginia 1757-1850, so it appears they are the same Samuel Hopewell.  Then in 1776, as seen in the Order Book referred to above, Samuel Hopewell and Mary Hopewell ages 12 and 14 respectively were bound to Henry Talbert.  Hannah King, their probable mother, had married Henry Talbot by 1769.  She gave an account of the administration of the estate of John Hopewell on June 13, 1769 listed as Hannah Talbot, late Hannah Hopewell, Ex. of the said John Hopewell."

Hannah King died before 1781 and her husband, Henry Talbot, remarried to a Barbara Whaley and moved to Bourbon Co., KY
