Benjamin Hurd when a young lad probably moved with his parents from Stratford to Woodbury, where he livd the rest of his life. His marriage may have occurred there, probably about 1690. His children are all recorded as born or baptized in Woodbury. He was a prominent citizeen of Woodbury, and owned much land there. The probate papers of his estate are preserved in the Connecticut State Library, Hartford, where they were examined. They include wife Sarah and to "all my children namely John Hurd, Benjamin Hurd, Nathan Hurd, Abraham Hurd, David Hurd, Zadok Hurd, Adam Hurd, and Ann Hinman. The distribution dated 14 Nov 1755 is to: John Hurd, Benjamin Hurd, Abrahm Hurd, Nathan Hurd, Zadok Hurd, Adam Hurd, and to Capt. Wait Hinman and to David Hurd's heirs."
