Mary S Jones married a widower with adult three children sometime before 1880. In that census. James H Wyatt is listed as a "collector of notes and bills." He had asthma. He died sometime before 1889. In the Louisville city directory of 1889 Mary S Wyatt is listed as a widow of James.. Their son John was born in 1877 so he was only about twelve or younger when his father died. He was still living with his mother in the 1900 census when he was listed as a theater manager. The city directory for that same year, however, lists him as an engineer.
In the 1901 Louisville City Directory Mary S Wyatt is listed as a music teacher. That is the last time either Mary or her son John are listed in any Louisville directory. John must have married Katherine Kuprion around 1902. They moved to Los Angeles sometime after 1903. (John and Katherine's first child, John C Wyatt, was born in Louisville, while their second child, Catherine Susan Wyatt, was born in Los Angeles.) In the 1907 city directory of Los Angeles, Mary is living with her son on Temple west of Whitney. John was working as a laundryman. He is listed again as laundryman in the 1910 census, but his mother was no longer living with him.
