Samuel first removed to Woodbridge, New Jersey in 1666 where he was the second town clerk from 1669 to 1688. He purchased land in Rahway, NY where he settled. (Woodbridge, NJ was incorporated in 1669)  "Samuel Moore was appointed treasurer of the Province of e. Jersey, 4, Dec. 1675 and reappointed in 1678; his compensation being nine pence per pound; in 1682 he was ordained by an act of the Legislature one of the Commissioners for laying out highways, bridges, landing and ferries in the county of Middlesex." Transcription of Will
In the Name of God Amen
To all the Christian people to whom this profound writing Shall Come or whomever it may concern greeting: Now Know ye that I Samuel Moore at Woodbridge in the province of East Woodbridge of East New Jersey in the county of Middlesex in America yeoman, being at profound through the goodness of Almighty God to me in perfect health and strength but knowing the frailty of my nature and not knowing but that I may as many others have been go finally away by sudden death or surprised by evident sickness and thereby made incapable of exercising and disposing of that debt God hath blessed me with all of an outward estate have in this world, according to my one mind and will, so also thought fit, and do by this profound make public this profound instrument to be my last will testament. And first I bequeath my soul unto God my Creator and Redeemer and sanctified in hope of enjoying eternal happiness with Him and finally hereafter to all eternity, and my body to this earth from which it came original, my hope and certainly believing that it shall go again in immortality at the second coming of Christ my savior that lamb of God. And for that little God hath blessed with, though much more than I (?) or could ever deserve My mind it it should go to my wife and children and their heirs hereafter in proportions by instructing my executors hereafter named. to see that my will fulfilled  and all of its parts.
And first I do bequeath unto my wife Hannah Moore the ox and improvement both upland and meadows houses and barns and also four cows, a yoke or two of oxen the use of my sheepland, the use of all my household stores except what is after bequeathed to some of my daughters, during her widowhood or whilst she remain my widow, but that shall not have any power to sell or dispose of any of the above mentioned things except for the working use of the family for food or raiment, and that with the consent and approbation hereafter named and if she sell or alter this condition and to marry again then she to have one third part of all my moveable estate then in being,
Second I do give and bequeath unto my eldest son Samuel Moore all that tract of land I now live upon both upland and meadow containing sixty acres on or thereabouts lying upon formerly called Roand Fork lying on said road just east of meadow belonging to John and Ezekiel Blumfield together with all the roofing barns firewood and other appurtenances to the said land and belonging together with my freehold and right in commonage belonging thereunto and also my weaving and also my waxing clothes books one glowing powder shot commonly called My Shot and my negro boy by name Jack.  And also Samuel Moore my son to be provided of all the above mentioned promises which he shall be at the age of one and twenty years if my wife Hannah Moore his mother in law by that time be dead or married otherwise he is to have propriety of all but what is before conjoined to my wife as above, except they can agree otherwise for him the above named Samuel Moore to have the premises to him and his heirs forever.
Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Moore a parcel of land on farms lying on the south side of Laventon River against the land now belonging to Joshua (?) Matthew Moore containing  two hundred and sixty four acres or thereabouts upland and meadow called or known by the name of Kone Fork whereon now Bryant Buckworth liveth by leave from me together with all the housing, barns and all the other edifices to the said land and premises belonging on it, and all the (?) plows yolks and all the other utensils to the said land and premises belonging excepting two properties of the same meadow I have already disposed of to John Adams and Sam Hall containing four or five acres or thereabouts beginning at the northeast corner of said meadow and so running next to the river.  The said farm to be delivered to him the said Thomas Moore when he shall be of the age of one and twenty years and to remain to him and his heirs forever.  I also give him one shaft.
Fourthly I do bequeath unto my son John Moore a certain parcel of upland commonly known by the name of Lang Start Farms containing three hundred acres of upland more or less one hundred eighty acres of which is mentioned in my proffer and one hundred and twenty acres purchased from William Feyli; I also give to my son John to farm sixty acres of marsh or meadow which I purchased from Robert (?) for the above named John Moore my son to have all the above named presented to him and his heirs forever and to be possessed therewith when he shall be of the age of one and twenty.  I also give my son John foothold and right of commonage I bought of John Sawyer.
Fifthly I give unto my sone Enock Moore all that home that I bought of William Compton lying on both sides the highway containing ten akers or thereabouts with the roofing (?)   and the other appurtinences to the said land belonging and also the freehold or right of commons or common right bought of Henry Lesserbe; I also give my sone Enock the forty sixe akers of upland I bought of Henry Lesserbe lying between the hayloft of his (?) John Jerly and the hayloft of Thomas Ahyer: and also forty akers of upland lying about Stephen Kent joining to the north east end of Daniel Yeeks on precondition I also give him the said Enock to the there above mentioned (?) of upland thirty akers of salt marsh or meadow lying upon Raritan River joining east upon the meadow of Thomas Blumflied Senior and west of upon the meadow of Nathan Webster.  I also give and bequeath to my said sonne Enock my (?) and an iron pot  for him the above named Enock Moore to have hold and enjoy all the above named premises to him and his heirs forever and to go profit  theirwith when he shall arrive to the age of one and twenty years.  And if any of my sons above named shall depart their natural life before they arrive to the age of one and twenty years and be (?) of what I bequeath by this my will then my will is that what I have given him or them to return to his next brother whether or upward and he that it falls to shall obliged and is hereby (?) to each of his living sisters five pounds in money of value.  And I instruct my executors hereafter named to (?) my sons to show good trust which they have my inclinations to (?) sexes any man until they are above one and twenty years of age.
Sixthly   My will is that my daughter Hannah Moore shall have two large pewter dishes and one small one and ten pounds in (?) which my wife and executors and she shall agree upon and one (?) to be delivered to her within two months after my death.
Seventhly  I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Moore one bed one pair of blankits one coverlit and a small tray two pewter dishes (?) and one cow or heifer (?) with calf to be delivered to her at her wedding or when she goes to (?) from her mother-in-law my wife. 
Eighthly   I do give and bequeath to my daughter Frances my negro girl by name Judith and also (?)
Ninthly   I do give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Moore that right my negro woman Nanny wife to Jack Spotswood now goeth withall (?)
Tenthly  I do freely fully and absolutely give and bequeath to my negro woman Nanny from and after my body being interred fourteen days her freedom thereby giving full power to my executors to give her the said Nanny (?)
Eleventhly  I do publish and affirm hereby this to be my last will and testament annulling by these pronouncements every testimony and testimonials and wills heretofore by me declared either by word or by writing not withstanding any promise to the contrary (?)
Twelfthly  I do by these presents nominate appoint and authorize my brother-in-law Saml Dennes, brother-in-law Saml  Hale and my son-in-law John Blumfield to be my executors of this my last will and testament where I have affixed my name and fixed my goals this tenth day of November 1683.
