In 1811 the "heirs & representatives" of Benning Patterson were claiming 950 arpents of land between New Madrid and Little Prairie. In 1808 Luke Devoir said that Benning Patterson in 1802 inhabited constantly to March 1807, 14 acres in cultivation, with a wife and three children. Benning Patterson died April 14, 1807. However, he supposedly died without issue.
