"Married.--At the residence of bride's father Mr. Benj. Shepard, near Newport
Ind., by J. E. Wright of Pittsburgh Ind., on Wednesday evening Sept 20, 1871 at
8'oclock, Rev. David Handley and Miss Salina W. Shepard.
The bride was supported by Miss Ella Shepard and by Miss Emma Howk, of
Springfield O. The bridegroom by Dr. Hiram Shepard and Prof. B. E. Rhodes.
On Thursday morning the bridal pair took the train for Lafayette, where Mr. H.
is stationed for the ensuing year, as pastor of the "Sixth Charge."
We give the happy couple our cordial wishes for a long and useful and happy
life.
The thoughtful bride will accept thanks for a pile of cake, in four stories. It
was fine. May she always be as sweet."
