Jannetje Van Arsdalen was the 8th of 11 children born to Garret Van Arsdalen
and Lucretia Hegeman. She was baptized 3 May 1757 at the Harlingen
Reformed Dutch Church, Montgomery Township, Somerset Co. NJ. (1) She married
Johannes Brouwer on 3 Apr 1781 in Conewago, PA. (2) She was 23 years old.
John Brewer was only 20. Her father, Garret Van Arsdalen, wrote his will 16 Nov
1782 naming her as his daughter, "Janetie Brewer." After his death she was
to receive £100 paid out over a two year period. (3)
Shortly after the birth
of their third child in 1786 they moved to Mercer County, KY. She had
three more children in Harrodsburg, KY. Her 6th child, Mary Brewer, was
born 6 Mar 1793 and Jannetje Van Arsdalen died just four months later on 19 Jul
1793. (4)

(3) The will of Garret Vanarsdalen was made 16 Nov 1782, proved 26 Apr 1789,
and is recorded in York Co. Will Book G-171 .
"Item it is my will that my
two sons shall pay to their four sisters after their mother's death or marriage
to each on hundred pound good money. To wit to Alleda Vanardsdale to
Janetie Brewer to Chariety Vanardsdalen and to Sarah Vanardsdalen in form
following the first year to pay to the two eldest fifty pound a piece and the
year following fifty pound a piece and the year after my two eldest daughters
fifty pound a piece and so to my two youngest daughters till each have received
one hundred pound each. Excepting my daughter Charryty is to have a horse
and saddle more out of my estate then any of her sisters."
(4) 19 Jul 1793 Jannetje Van Arsdalen died.
