John married in Mercer County in 1813 and John "Verbrike" first appears on the Mercer County tax records in 1816 with four acres of land, 1 black and 4 horses. The value of the land is $15. And his total worth is$380.
However, in 1809 John Verbryck, brother to his father William Verbryck, wrote a will in Mercer Co., KY naming his two nephews. "tem it is my will that my Nephew William Verbryck be paid for his work he has done to my house if he brings an account forward." This places William in Mercer Co by 1809 even though he is not on the tax records. This same will also mentions John. "Item: I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Verbryck one pound and three pence for work he has done for me and did in no pay." William and John must have come to Kentucky at about the same time. So, even though John Verbryck does not appear on the tax records until 1816 I think he was there earlier, possibly living with his brother.
