Maria Verbryck was the 6th and last child born to Barnabas and Caliyntie Verbryck. She was baptized 17 Jun 1787 in the Neshanic Church in Somerset, New Jersey. (1) Her family moved to Mercer County, KY about 1799 when she was about twelve years old. It was there that she met Garrett Brewer. She married him on 5 Feb 1804 when she was seventeen years old. Her father, Barnabus Verbryck, had given his consent three days before. (2) She and Garrett had nine children within a fourteen year period. They all lived to adulthood and at least eight of them had children of their own giving Maria a large extended family. Maria died in 1858 and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Johnson County, IN. (3) Her husband, Garret Brewer, died two years later in 1860. Several years earlier, in 1847, Garret had written his will naming his wife as "Polly." (4)
