After her husband's death Mary Washburne Willets settled at Jericho, Long
Island near Oyster Bay. Mary then joined the Society of Friends, the Quakers,
and became a minister, and had meetings at her house. It is not known if she had
been a Quaker before her husband died but he, being an assistant to the court
Magistrates who were expected to invoke the laws enacted to suppress the Quaker
movement, makes it unlikely.
