"Almon was born 18 Sept. 1838 on the home farm between Smithfield and Warren, Jefferson Co., Ohio. Almon married Evira Bair in 1861 in Steubenville, Ohio. She was born 1 July 1835 on the Heisler farm in Harrison Co., Oho, near Salem. She was the daughter of John (born 1808) and Margaret (1812-1903) (Hoobler) Bair. They lived in southwestern Pennsylvania. Elvira died 6 Nov. 1911 in Washington, Pennsylvania (Washington Co.) and was buried in the New Cemetery, White Plot, in Smithfield, Ohio. Almon moved to Montana with his son Edwin in 1915 and died 29 April 1917 in Billings, Montana. He was buried in Custer Cemetery, Yellowstone Co., Montana. Their children were born in Smithfield, Ohio."
