Invt. œ647-03-07. Taken 14 June, 1743, by John Hall and John Clark. Will dated 22 April, 1743.
I, Nathaniel White of Middletown, in the County of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: Imprimis: I give to Mehetabell my wife 1-3 part of all my moveable estate besides what I have ordered for her use by deed in houseing and land: this I give to Mehetabell my wife and to her heirs forever. I give to my eldest son Nathaniel White, besides what I have given him by deed of gift, all my interest in the last three miles granted to the Town of Middletown, and likewise one mare which he has in possession, he paying œ4 in old tenor money to his sisters Abigail and Sarah: this I give to my son Nathaniel and to his heirs forever. I give to my son Elijah White one mare which he has in his possession, and 6 sheep, besides what I have already given him by deed of gift: this I give to my son Elijah White and to his heirs and assigns forever. I give to my son Noadiah White, besides what I have already given him by deed of gift, one mare and 6 sheep, and 2-3 of my carpenter's tools, he taking care of his mother. And it is my will that my son Noadiah shall provide for his own mother all that she needs for her comfortable subsistence during her natural life: this I give to my son Noadiah White and to his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Sary White, out of the remaining part of my moveable estate, first of all, so much as to make her up equal with what her sister Abigail has already had, and then, after Sary is made even with her sister Abigail, the remaining part of all my moveable estate I give to my two daughters, Abigail and Sary, equally divided between them: this I give to my two daughters, Abigail and Sary, and to their heirs forever. And I make my son Noadiah White sole executor.

He settled as a farmer in East Middletown, afterwards called Chatham, in that part which is now the town of Portland (1913). He and his wife were among those who united in forming the first church in E. Middletown, October 15 1721. He was a selectman of Middletown in 1730, a constable in 1733, and also from 1735 to 1742...
