Newport Hoosier State November 28, 1900 Mrs. Emily Jaggers, wife of Harrison Jaggers of this township, died of consumption on last Friday evening, November 23, 1900, aged 63 years. The deceased was the daughter of Mrs. Orpha Wigley of Eugene Township, who is still living and nearly 100 years of age. Mrs. Jaggers was a woman with a good heart, a kindly disposition, and Christian lady. Everybody was her friend. The funeral occurred at her late residence at 11 o'clock on Sunday last, Rev. J.E. Wright of Dana performing the last sad rites, after which her remains were followed by sorrowing relatives and friends to the Vermillion Chapel Cemetery, where they were consigned to their last resting place. She leaves a husband and several children. |

In the 1900 census for Vermillion County, IN John Gilmore, aged 89, was living with his step-son, Harrison Jaggers. Harrison was 71 and Emily 63. John Gilmore wrote his will on April 18, 1899 leaving "To my friend, Emily Jaggers, wife of Harrison Jaggers, I give one hundred dollars, because she has been kind to me." John Gilmore died 04 Oct 1900 and Emily Jaggers died of consumption six weeks later on 23 Nov 1900.
