Agnes Yeoman

Agnes Yeoman was probably born about 1591-1595 based on the date of her
marriage. She married John Wheeler on 1 Dec 1611 at St. Edmund Church,
Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. (1) There were other people named Yeoman in the
area, but none of them can be directly connected to Agnes. (2) Some have
thought that Thomas Yeoman who married Alice Rowden in 1621 was a brother of
Agnes Yeoman. Thomas and Alice married at St. Thomas in Salisbury, the same church
that many of the children of John Wheeler and Agnes were baptized. However,
their marriage bond indicates that Thomas Yeoman was of East Tytherley, Hampshire,
England. (3) There is a Nicholas Yeoman baptizing children in the St.
Martin Parish of Salisbury. He also baptized a son John in the St. Edmund
Parish in Salisbury. There is a Humphrey Yeoman who married in East
Tytherley in 1599 and a John Yeoman who also married in East Tytherley.
They may be sons of Rychard Yoman who married Joan Webb in East Tytherley on 14
Jan 1570.
Agnes was also recorded with the name Ann on some records.
She and most of her children probably traveled to the Colonies with her husband
around 1635-1636. She died in Newbury, MA on 14 Aug 1662. (4)
