Thelma was my Mother-in-law and was the oldest of the children. They had a home in Uvalde, TX but often lived in large tents out on the ranch. Janie Bee's health was indifferent so at an early age, Thelma cooked for the ranch and helped care for the younger children. She went to San Marcos College and taught school for a while, but then worked for Well's Fargo in the office. The family moved from Uvalde to Del Rio TX where Janie Bee
and her husband ran a hotel. There Thelma met and married Morgan Locke and they lived to celebrate their 60th. wedding anniversary. Thelma and her mother were very close and Janie Bee died in Thelma's home.
